Government bails out broke Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards

It is a sigh of relief to AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia after the government came to their rescue ahead of continental matches next week.

K'Ogalo and Ingwe's participation in the return legs of Caf Champions League and Caf Confederation Cup respectively, were in limbo after the two clubs threatened to withdraw from the competitions citing lack of finances.

However, the Kenyan government on Friday chipped in with a helping hand by donating return tickets for both teams ahead of their assignments.

K'Ogalo CEO Lodvic Aduda confirmed to Goal that the Ministry of Sports had purchased 30 air tickets for each team.

“The government has come to our aid. Until today, we were not sure whether we would make this trip to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea but now we have the tickets,” Aduda told Goal.

Gor Mahia will carry a two goal lead going into the return leg against Leones Vegetarianos while AFC Leopards will be seeking for a high scoring draw to sail through after playing out to a 1-1 draw against Madagascar's Fosa Juniors.
