Former Ghana Football Association president Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is the latest to call on government to reconsider its decision to liquidate the local football governing body after Fifa threatened to ban the country should the FA be scrapped.
The authorities have been given up to August 27 to withdraw an Attorney General's petition to an Accra High Court to dissolve the FA in a move aimed at "sanitizing the system" after a recent investigative documentary exposed corrupt and match-fixing activities of top officials and referees.
Government, meanwhile, says it intends to hold a meeting with Fifa on Thursday to "explore a mutually acceptable route" to achieve its goal.
"The government should withdraw the case from court, so we can have a peaceful resolution and allow football to return in the interest of the sport," Nyaho-Tamakloe told Asempa FM.
"Many careers will suffer should the current impasse continue and I think government must act fast to put things in order.
"If the petition to start the liquidation process of the GFA is not withdrawn by Monday, August 27, the GFA will be suspended with immediate effect."
News of the threat has caused a major shake in the country, particularly with the Black Stars set to take on Kenya in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on September 7.
The development comes only a week after Ghana were eliminated from the Fifa Under-20 Women's World Cup in France.
