Gervinho steers Parma past Torino

Gervinho was on target as Parma secured an away 2-1 victory over Torino in Saturday’s Italian Serie A encounter.

After back-to-back losses to Lazio and Atalanta, including a goalless stalemate with Frosinone, the 31-year-old led the way to help Roberto D'Aversa’s men return to winning ways.

The former Arsenal star opened the scoring nine minutes into the game to take his tally to four goals since joining the side in the summer.

Roberto Inglese then doubled the lead in the 25th minute, with Riccardo Gagliolo providing the assist.

Daniele Baselli reduced the deficit for Walter Mazzarri’s men in the 37th minute but the Yellow and Blues held on to their first-half lead to claim their fifth win this term.

Gervinho featured for the whole duration of the match along with Cameroon’s Nicolas N'Koulou and Nigeria’s Ola Aina who were on parade for the home team.

With the result, Parma have climbed to the ninth spot in the league standings with 17 points from 12 games.

The Ivorian will hope to continue the fine display for his side in their next league game with Sassuolo on November 25 after the international break.
