India U19s suffered a third consecutive defeat in the four-nation international tournament on Sunday after they went down 0-2 against France in Croatia.

The French U-19 side scored in the 18th and 73rd minute to seal a comfortable win over Floyd Pinto’s boys.

France were in control of the game right from the beginning and enjoyed the lion’s share of possession. They came close to score in the second minute of the match when Prabhsukhan Gill’s pass to Boris Singh got intercepted on the right flank. Gill somehow managed to keep the ball out for a corner.

The opposition once came close to break the deadlock in the 8th but thanks to another save from the Indian goalkeeper the danger was averted. The European giants finally broke the deadlock in the 18th minute via a well-knitted move from the middle of the pitch.

France continued to dominate proceedings in the second half too and forced the Indians to defend in numbers.

From a counter-attack in the 65th minute, striker Aniket Jadhav came close to equalise but unfortunately, his chipped shot went inches above the crossbar.

France doubled their lead and sealed the fate of the match in the 73rd minute.

India XI: Prabhsukhan Gill, Anwar Ali, Jitendra Singh, Akash, Boris Singh, Jeakson Singh, Amarjit Singh, Suresh Singh, Narender, Rahim Ali, Aniket Jadhav.
