Ezekiel Odera ready to steer AFC Leopards to safety after scooping the monthly accolade

Ezekiel Odera beat stiff opposition from top Kenyan Premier League opponents to become the first player from AFC Leopards to have won the Player of the Month Award on Tuesday.

Odera tallied ahead of Cliff Nyakeya of Mathare United and Kenyan Premier League leading scorer Elvis Rupia to claim the March accolade.

The former KCB and Gor Mahia forward is positive that rare recognition will act as a morale booster for him after wading through a tough month, having lost his mother to Cancer last March.

The striker says the award is a motivation even as he aims at helping the team to better their performance this season.

"I do not know what to say! I am elated beyond words after winning this, it was unexpected of me. It was a tough month, I lost my mum but all went well for me.

"I also take this opportunity to thank AFC Leopards family as well as my teammates for standing with me during those tough times."

Ingwe is currently placed fourth on the log with 18 points.
