The Senegal international is full of confidence to make things work out surprisingly for the Eagles this term

Cheikhou Kouyate has expressed his desire to keep working hard with huge optimism for an incredible campaign for Crystal Palace.

The Senegal skipper made his debut at the Selhurst Park on Saturday as the Eagles defeated Toulouse 4-1 in their final pre-season encounter.

After being introduced to the crowd at the interval along with fellow new signing Max Meyer, the 28-year-old only featured for Hodgson’s side with just 17 minutes of action remaining.

The former West Ham midfielder has expressed how great it was to be in action in front of the home supporters after the victory over the French Ligue 1 side.

“I am very happy to be here. And I say thank you to the fans for the unbelievable welcome, and I am so excited to have had the chance to play for my new club in this game and I feel very good," Kouyate told club media.

“It was good for our confidence to win this game, but the tactic now is to be ready for the Fulham game because that we are now at just a week before that game.

“I am ready to get started but all the players have made me very welcome, making me feel at home, but it is now about me getting myself ready to play in the team.

“Pape [Souare], James Tomkins and Luka [Milivojevic], everybody has helped me to settle into this team and now I must continue to work hard for this season and hopefully have an unbelievable season for this team.

“We are all looking forward to it beginning and cannot wait."
