Emmanuel Emenike joins Oghenekaro Etebo on loan at Las Palmas

Emmanuel Emenike has joined Spanish side, Las Palmas on loan from Olympiacos after agreeing personal terms.

The ex-Nigeria international was snapped up by the Greek champions in July 2017 for €2.5 million from Fenerbahce. However, since his arrival at Karaiskakis Stadium, he has suffered various injuries which had limited his game time.

The former West Ham United striker made just ten appearances and scored four goals for the Reds before his departure.

Las Palmas who also acquired Super Eagles’ Oghenekaro Etebo on deadline day announced the capture of the forward and will be expected to undergo his medicals on Friday before his official presentation.

“Emmanuel Chinenye Emenike is a Nigerian footballer who plays as a forward at Olympiacos FC of the Greek Super League. He was born on May 10, 1987 [age 30], Otuocha, Nigeria and arrives on loan to UD Las Palmas until June 30, 2018,” read a statement on the club’s website.

“Emenike is a fast forward of great power that can be adapted to any of the three attack positions. He arrived at the Greek Olympiacos after standing out in Turkish football, specifically in the clubs Karabukpor [30 goals in two seasons] and Fenerbahce [16 goals in two seasons], with which he won a league title.

“The international forward, who with Nigeria participated in the 2014 World Cup Brazil, also had a brilliant step for Russian football. In Spartak Moscow he scored 21 goals in 42 games [2011-2014].

“In recent seasons he has played on loan to Al-Ain [United Arab Emirates] and West Ham United where he played 13 games in the Premier League, without scoring any [2015-2016].

“The arrival of the player is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, at 05:05pm, on a flight from Madrid. He will undergo a medical examination on Friday in the first hour and around 12:30 will be presented in the press room of the Gran Canaria Stadium.”
