Ghana striker Raphael Dwamena rescued a point for FC Zurich in their clash with Grasshopper in the Swiss topflight on Saturday.

The attacker scored to help The City Club to a 1-1 home draw with Murat Yakin's side at Stadion Letzigrund.

It was his seventh goal in the Super League this campaign, having made 24 appearances involving 21 starts.

Assisted by Antonio Marchesano, Dwamena broke the deadlock in the 27th minute, racing pass his marker before beating goalkeeper Heinz Lindner with a low shot.

With no further goals before recess, the visitors levelled the score in the 58th minute when Jeffren Suarez set up Kenan Kodro for the equalizer.

The result has left Zurich fifth on the league table, just one place above Grasshoppers.

Dwamena, who joined The City Club from Austria Lustenaulast January, scored a combined 30 goals over the course of last season.

He was once on the books of Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg, featuring for feeder side Liefering.

Last summer, he came close to sealing a move to English Premier League new entrants Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, after Zurich and Brighton announced reaching agreement for the transfer of the target man, the move fell through at the eleventh hour as the English outfit reportedly pulled out of the deal over the striker’s failed medical due to a heart condition.
