Fans across the country have dropped congratulatory messages for the Golden Eaglets after defeating Angola 1-0 in their second Group A fixture.
The supporters believed that they booked a place in the semi-final of the Africa U17 Cup of Nations.
Olusegun Olakunle's effort from the penalty spot in the first half separated both teams at the National Stadium, and the fans thought that the five-time world champions are through to the global showpiece in Brazil later this year.
Despite the triumph, some of the fans have called on the team to improve their goalscoring skills after failing to convert eight shots on target.
