Taribo West opens Copa Coca Cola in Ibadan

The grassroots tournament kicked off in the ancient on Thursday with the former Super Eagle star in attendance.

The Ibadan regionals of the 2017 Copa Coca-Cola started on Thursday afternoon with a coaching clinic that had 42-time capped Nigerian international in attendance as well as Issa Sofoluwe.

Five teams (Ekiti, Lagos, Kwara, Ogun and Ondo States) will be competing for one of the eight spots in the national finals that will take place in Lagos.

After going through team and player registration, the five states went through a coaching session with West and Sofoluwe in which they took the players through various drills and other exercises.

Even though the sun shined over the city of Ibadan on Thursday, the participants certainly had a nice time, all thanks to the wonderful initiative put together by the beverage giant, Coca-Cola.

Copa Coca Cola is the world’s largest brand supported grassroots football tournament that connects and engages teenagers. This year’s edition will be big with Coca-Cola introducing a 22 million naira Education Trust Fund initiative. Coca-Cola will also be revamping football pitches across the Nigerian federation which will go a long way in raising the future stars of tomorrow.
