The Bluebirds are a place above the bottom three after a spate of poor results but defender believes they can have a turnaround

Sol Bamba has urged Cardiff City to avoid mistakes to enable them to secure their first win of the season.

Neil Warnock’s men are a place above the bottom three in the league log.

The Bluebirds have two points from five games after drawing against Newcastle United and Huddersfield Town before losing to Arsenal and Chelsea. They also suffered a loss against Norwich City in the League Cup.

However, the 33-year-old defender who scored the solitary goal in their 4-1 defeat to the Blues last weekend has urged the team to cut out errors so as to turn their season around.

"We've got to do better at the back that's for sure because at this level every mistake gets punished,” Bamba was quoted as saying by Sky Sport.

"When we get a chance we need to take it and I think that's been the difference so far.

"We need to keep the basics, to be strong and make sure we are difficult to beat and then I'm sure we will have a chance.

"We have played top quality opposition so it was always going to be difficult but I think if we carry on playing like we have been then we are definitely going to win more games than we lose."

Cardiff play host to Manchester City in their next league game on Saturday.
