Ajax Cape Town have bolstered their defence with the signature of Thamsanqa Teyise.
Teyise joins the Urban Warriors on a free transfer having left Free State Stars at the end of last season.
Speaking to the Ajax website after putting pen to paper, Teyise said: “I am very happy to be part of this great club, I am looking forward to the season ahead and to help this team back into the Absa Premiership.”
The 32-year-old is relishing the prospect of working with Muhsin Ertugral at the club.
He admits that they will have to harder to return to the PSL next season, saying that he will always put the club first.
“That is what I want to do with all my heart. Playing under head coach Muhsin Ertugral will be a great experience for me and I’ve already learnt a lot in the short time since I arrived at the club. We have to work harder than ever to make sure that we bounce back into the Premiership at the first attempt," he added.
“The club comes first. All I can do now is to go out there and deliver for the club,” concluded Teyise.
The arrival of Teyise comes soon after Ajax announced former Kaizer Chiefs defender Sibusiso Khumalo on a free transfer.
Ajax started their National First Division (NFD) with a win over Jomo Cosmos, who also campaigned in the PSL for many years in the past.
Teyise is seen as a direct replacement for Mario Booysen, who left Ajax for Amakhosi this week.
Ajax also lost Mosa Lebusa to Mamelodi Sundowns in the current transfer window.
