Uganda were defeated 1-0 by Egypt in their second group match of Africa Cup of Nations played on Saturday seeing them out of the tournament but their head coach Milutin Sredojević is still aiming at collecting some points.

They are currently without a point on the Group D log and are placed at the basement behind Mali, Egypt and leaders Ghana after two matches but that does not worry the coach a lot. He says that their defeat against Egypt was unfortunate and that they will fight to beat Mali in their last match in order to go home with some ‘elements of pride’.

Gor Mahia to play Ugandan side in friendly

“We gave all our best but it was not enough; now we need to pick the pieces in order to see who will play. We have certain injuries such as goalkeeper Dennis Onyango and the others but our ambition still stands. We came here to play three games; we lost against Ghana, then we lost against Egypt in the last minute but we shall judge and see how to play next game. Our ambition remains that we want to go home with element of pride and win the match against Mali.”

Uganda were returning to the tournament after 39 years of absence but the big wigs (Egypt and Ghana) have proved superior to them.
