The Bursaspor player has thumbed up the role played by the senior members of the Eagles in his meteoric rise in the senior national team

Super Eagles ’ Abdullahi Shehu has confessed that playing alongside some senior members of the national team has made his game improve tremendously.

The defender made his international bow for Nigeria when he featured for the Eagles B side at the 2013 African Nations Championship and he explained that his relationship with Ahmed Musa, John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and others has done his career lots of good.

“I am always ready to do my best to give all to the senior national team whenever I am called upon,” Shehu told Goal.

“I think for me playing with some of the players here in the Super Eagles like Mikel, Musa, Moses has helped me to develop more.

"Whenever I am in the field with these players and others in the Eagles, I found it very easy to play to my best."

The former Kano Pillars player all claimed that the battle for places in the team has not brought about any unhealthy rivalry and that the players in the Super Eagles still do things together despite their battle for places to Russia.

“This is Nigeria and the senior national team for that matter. We have to fight for the jerseys with all we have but as players, we are teammates and colleagues to another,” he continued.

“We do not allow the on-pitch competition for spots in the team to cause any friction among us.

"Outside the pitch, we are best of friends and are working hard to help one another.”
