Arsenal have confirmed the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia from Manchester City…to the excitement and disgust of some people.
The 28-year-old has been subject of negotiations between the Gunners and Dortmund for several weeks, with the north London club refusing to meet the Bundesliga side's €70m asking price.
Last season, Auba scored a total of 31 league games and will now hope to make his impact felt at the Emirates Stadium.
Goal takes a look at the best, and worst, of the Twitter reaction.
Lacazette is yet to work out at Arsenal... still wondering the rationale behind getting Aubameyang, and having Giroud leave.
Safe the height, both have similar styles and Arsenal have been stingy with creating the space Auba thrives in for Laca. Let's see what AW thinks. 😏 — Tolu Olasoji (@Tollexrism) January 31, 2018
Weird how Arsenal have been able to bag Aubameyang without Champions League football... — Sam McGuire (@SamMcGuire90) January 31, 2018
Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang are great players but I'm not convinced they're the type of characters that will turn Arsenal around. Someone like Jonny Evans would also be useful — Dean Jones (@DeanJonesBR) January 31, 2018
Some thoughts on Aubameyang:
1st watched him at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations... Most impressive thing about him is how hard he had worked to improve. From someone pushed out wide, who was considered a poor finisher to 1 of the top strikers in Europe. Improving every year#AFC — John Bennett (@JohnBennettBBC) January 31, 2018
Excited to Aubameyang. Could be a spectacular signing — James Robson (@JamesRobsonMEN) January 31, 2018
