That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
This win for Watford moves them six points ahead of Bournemouth who in the final relegation spot and they play tomorrow. Next up for the Hornets is a trip to West Ham. Meanwhile Newcastle remain 13th and they face Tottenham next time out at St James' Park.
Watford clinch a crucial 2-1 victory over Newcastle to boost their survival chances, thanks to a Deeney brace, with both goals coming from the penalty spot. The visitors led 1-0 at the break, however, Newcastle never really got going in the second half and conceded the first penalty early on, after Ritchie brought down Femenia, which Deeney converted. Watford pushed on and created numerous chances, with Deeney and Welbeck both going close. However, it was another spot-kick that made the difference, with Manquillo fouling Sarr, allowing Deeney to step up once again and secure the three points for Watford.

89' Deeney is the first player to score two penalties in one Premier League game since Paul Pogba against West Ham in April 2019.

84' Schar is booked for a late and deliberate challenge on Hughes down the right wing.
84' There's not long left on the clock now, can Newcastle mount an attack and level the scoreline late on?
T. Deeney
Penalty Goal
82' GOOOAAALLL! Watford take the lead, it's 2-1! Deeney with the penalty once again and it's almost a replica of the first spot-kick, he smashes the ball into the back of the net, straight down the middle and Dubravka had no chance of saving it.
80' WATFORD PENALTY! Another spot-kick for Watford and a chance for them to take the lead! This time it is Manquillo who commits the foul, by pushing and grabbing the shirt of Sarr as he dribbled past the full-back and got in the box. The referee shows no hesitation again and points to the spot straight away.
E. Krafth
D. Rose
79' The other change by the visitors sees Rose head off the pitch, with Krafth his replacement.
N. Bentaleb
D. Gayle
78' Double substitution here by Newcastle, with Gayle coming off and he has been replaced by Bentaleb.
F. Fernández
Yellow Card
77' Fernandez is the latest Newcastle player to be booked after he shoves Sarr to the ground down the left wing, as the winger looked to break forward into the final third.
76' The game is being broken up a lot at the moment, with both sides committing some silly fouls, so it isn't allowing either side to build some momentum and create a goalscoring chance.
74' It's now Newcastle who are trying to break forward on the counter-attack and nick a goal. The hosts look much more comfortable and have certainly had the better second half.
Joelinton
M. Ritchie
72' Newcastle make the first substitution of the game, with Ritchie coming off the pitch and he has been replaced by Joelinton.
71' Watford are piling on the pressure now, a win for them today would be crucial in their bid to avoid relegation and move them six points above the drop zone.
69' Welbeck’s winner against Norwich last time out was his first Premier League goal for Watford, and his first overall in the competition in 682 days. He last scored in consecutive Premier League appearances back in February 2016.
67' GOAL RULED OUT! Saint-Maximim is released through on goal by Ritchie and the Watford players appeal for the offside flag straight away but nothing is given, so play continues and Foster comes off his line to stop Saint-Maximim from shooting, who instead opts to pass to Almiron who is making a good run forward, however, Dawson slides in and diverts the ball into the back of his own net. The offside flag goes up eventually and the goal is ruled out.
65' Newcastle now have everyone back behind the ball, trying to soak up the Watford pressure as the hosts are on top and are creating good chances to try and take the lead.
Javi Manquillo
Yellow Card
63' Manquillo is booked for his foul on Welbeck in the Watford half of the pitch.
61' VAR take a look at the block by Rose, as the ball does strike the top of his arm. However, there wasn't anything he could do about it as the ball bounced off his team-mate from a yard or so away. Nothing given.
60' WATFORD CHANCE! So close once again by Watford, with Deeney this time laying the ball off to Welbeck in the box, who fired a shot towards goal, but it is blocked by a mixture of Rose and Fernandez, which wrong foots Dubravka and lands on the top of the net.
59' CHANCE! Deeney should be doing better there! Newcastle try to play the ball out from the back, but Hughes does brilliantly to put Fernandez under pressure and force the mistake, which hands it to Deeney on the edge of the area. However, his shot is straight at Dubravka, who makes a very good save.
58' There are a few players warming up on the sidelines for both teams now, who will be the first to make a change? Watford are just about on top at the moment.
56' Deeney has scored 16 penalties in the Premier League for Watford, while no other player has scored more than one.
54' Good counter! Watford break forward quickly and open up Newcastle at the back, the ball is played out wide to Welbeck, who tries to cross to Deeney in the six-yard box, but his pass is poor and easily blocked out. Wasted opportunity.
T. Deeney
Penalty Goal
52' GOOOAAALLL! Deeney converts from the penalty spot and makes it 1-1! The striker was taking no chances and just smashes the ball straight down the middle of the goal, with Dubravka diving to his right.
50' WATFORD PENALTY! Femenia races into the penalty area, skips past Fernandez and then Ritchie clatters into the side of him, making clear contact and giving the referee no choice but to point to the penalty spot. Great chance for Watford to equalise now.
48' No changes for either side at the break, surely it won't be too long until we see some Watford changes as they are also struggling to get on the ball in this second half as well.
46' The second half is under way!
Newcastle have had the better chances and haven't allowed Watford much time on the ball to create chances, so the hosts will need to make some changes at the break in order to get back into this game.
Newcastle lead 1-0 at the break, after dominating much of the first half and they went ahead thanks to a goal from Gayle on 23 minutes. The goal came from a lovely flick on at the near post by Fernandez from a corner, which Gayle pounced on and turned into the back of the net. Prior to the goal both sides went close, with Almiron denied by a great Foster save and then Welbeck saw his shot saved and cleared off the Newcastle line. Saint-Maximim went close to doubling the visitors lead, but Foster saved with his feet.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: WATFORD 0-1 NEWCASTLE UNITED
J. Lascelles
Yellow Card
45' + 2' The first yellow card of the game is shown to Lascelles, for his late challenge on Doucoure, after the midfielder flicked the ball past the Newcastle skipper.
45' There will be a minimum of three minutes added time played at the end of the first half.
43' WATFORD CHANCE! It comes from a free-kick which Newcastle fail to deal with and there is a scramble for the ball in the six-yard box, with numerous players trying to fire a shot towards goal. However, Newcastle have so many players back that they manage to clear the danger in the nick of time.
41' There's not long left to play at Vicarage Road before the end of the first half now, can Watford get back into the game before the half-time whistle?
39' Good opportunity here for Watford, they have a free-kick about 35 yards out, which is whipped into the box by Hughes, however, Dawson's header is weak and Deeney is unable to keep it alive at the far post.
37' Stoppage in play here as Schar is down with a head injury after a collision in the middle of the pitch. The Newcastle staff are taking their time with him and making sure he will be fine to continue.
35' NEWCASTLE CHANCE! Another great save by Foster to deny Saint-Maximim! Watford are caught out at the back by a terrific move by the visitors, with Almiron flicking the ball in behind, releasing Saint-Maximim and he only had Foster to beat from a tight angle, but the keeper got down quickly to make the stop with his feet.
34' Newcastle are playing a very high pressing game at the moment, which is making it very difficult for Watford to keep the ball for a sustained period and create anything in the final third.
32' Gayle has 3 goals and 1 assist since the restart (5 appearances), after 0 goals and one assist beforehand (12 appearances).
30' Newcastle look dangerous at set pieces, with Watford struggling to cope with the movement and aerial presence of their opponents in the box, the visitors look like they could score from every corner at the moment.
28' Decent effort! Deeney lays the ball back to Hughes from the byline and the midfielder fires a lofted shot at goal, but it lacks any pace and Dubravka comfortably gathers.
27' The goal seems to have kicked Watford into life a little bit, as they are trying to play with more intensity now and are currently inside the Newcastle final third, looking a lot more dangerous.
25' The referee blows for the first water break of the game, just after the goal, allowing both sides time to take on some instructions from the sidelines.
F. Fernández
Assist
23' The initial header from Fernandez looked to be heading just wide of the post until it was diverted into the goal by Gayle.
D. Gayle
Goal
23' GOOOAAALLL! Newcastle take the lead, it's 1-0! Fernandez is completely unmarked in the box as he meets a corner at the near post, flicks it on towards the back post where Gayle is waiting and he just sticks out a leg and guides the ball into the back of the net. Poor defending by Watford.
22' Ritchie and Saint-Maximim are really causing Watford all sorts of problems down both wings, however, Newcastle don't really have a targetman in the box to aim for, with Gayle and Almiron not the tallest of strikers.
20' Watford’s comeback win against Norwich last time out ended a run of three consecutive defeats and five games without a win in the Premier League. The Hornets last won back-to-back league games in January.
18' The Welbeck chance a few minutes ago is the only time Watford have found their way into the Newcastle final third so far. That's an excellent goalscoring chance for both sides now.
16' WATFORD CHANCE! Welbeck thought he had put his side ahead after a volley from the far post following a cross into the box by Femenia. Dubravka got across and made a great save, which didn't clear the danger as the ball spun dangerously behind him towards the back of the net. However, luckily for Newcastle, Lascelles was on hand to hook it off the line just in the nick of time. The goal-line technology shows that not all of the ball crossed the line.
15' It looks like Watford are happy to sit deep and then break quickly on the counter-attack when they do get on the ball, with the pace of Deeney and Welbeck.
13' Newcastle look very comfortable at the moment, they are keeping the ball well and are exploiting a lot of space down the wings, with Watford struggling to get anywhere near them.
11' SAVE! Great chance for Newcastle to open the scoring early on, but Almiron is denied by a superb stop by Foster in the Watford goal. The ball fell perfectly to the striker at the far post after Ritchie's corner is flicked on at the near post. Almiron fires it at goal straight away, but Foster palms it away and then Watford clear the danger.
9' Watford are unbeaten in all five of their Premier League home games against Newcastle (W2 D3), more than they’ve faced any other side without defeat at Vicarage Road in the competition.
7' Every Watford player is back in their own half at the moment, they are having to sit deep to soak up the early Newcastle pressure.
5' Bright start here by Newcastle, they are camped inside the Watford half of the pitch and the hosts have barely touched the ball so far. Saint-Maximin looks like the most dangerous player on the pitch at the moment.
3' Not too far away! Saint-Maximin does well to find some space for a cross and whips a lovely ball into the box from the right, which Almiron throws himself at, but the striker just can't quite reach it in the six yard box.
2' There is a problem early on for Newcastle after Saint-Maximin goes down under a heavy challenge from Doucoure and Deeney. However, the winger is now back up in his feet and trying to run any injury off.
1' We're under way!
The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all of the match action!
