Commentary

That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
This victory sends Spurs top of the table and they will face Crystal Palace next time out after the international break. Meanwhile Watford drop to 12th and they will welcome Wolves to Vicarage Road in two weeks’ time.
Tottenham make it three Premier League wins on the bounce with a 1-0 victory over Watford, thanks to an excellent first-half free-kick by Son. Spurs pushed forward in the second period in search of another and tested Bachmann a few times, with Hojbjerg and Kane forcing the keeper into two excellent saves. However, they couldn’t extend their lead and had to hold on to pick up all three points.
90' + 5' FULL-TIME: TOTTENHAM 1-0 WATFORD
E. Dennis
Yellow Card
90' + 4' Dennis is booked late on for a poor challenge on Moura.
90' + 2' Tottenham look pretty happy to just sit back and see the game out now, with Watford not looking like grabbing an equaliser late on.
90' There will be a minimum of four minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
Bryan Gil
Son Heung-Min
88' Son is replaced late on, with Gil the man coming on.
87' After winning their first three away league games against Tottenham between 1982 and 1985, Watford have since lost nine of their last 10 league visits to Spurs (D1).
O. Skipp
Yellow Card
85' Skipp is booked late on for a foul on Sarr. The winger has been on the end of a few challenges so far today.
84' SAVE! Watford fail to deal with a corner and the ball falls perfectly to Kane in the middle of the box, he volleys it towards goal, but Bachmann shows great reactions to make a superb save and deny the striker.
84' CHANCE! Moura does brilliantly down the right wing and drills a low cross into the six-yard box for Kane to tap-in at the far post. However, Troost-Ekong gets the slightest of touches on it and it catches Kane by surprise, so he misses it and the chance goes away.
81' Hojbjerg and Skipp have dominated the midfield area for the majority of the game, breaking up play and setting up the likes of Son and Kane to go on and create something in attack.
79' Watford will be hoping that they can catch Spurs out on the counter late on, as Sarr and Dennis can still cause the Tottenham defence problems. Especially if they get complacent and think that the game is won.
77' Tottenham are comfortably keeping possession in the Watford half at the moment, but not showing as much attacking intent as they have previously.
75' There is still plenty of time left on the clock for Watford to get back in this game, but if anyone looks like scoring at the moment, it's Tottenham.
73' SAVE! Hojbjerg steps up to take a free-kick from around 30 yards out, drilling it low and hard towards goal, but it takes a big deflection off Cleverley and this sends it towards the bottom right corner of the net. Bachmann quickly re-adjusts his feet and gets across and makes a great save.
T. Cleverley
M. Sissoko
71' Third and final Watford change now, with Sissoko coming off to a good ovation by both sets of supporters and he has been replaced by Cleverley.
70' Alli scored his first Premier League goal in 533 days against Wolves last time out, ending a run of 19 top-flight appearances without a goal. He last scored in consecutive league games back in December 2019.
Lucas Moura
S. Bergwijn
68' Tottenham make their first substitution now, with Bergwijn replaced by Moura.
67' CHANCE! Tottenham break quickly up the pitch and catch Watford out at the back, with Son releasing Kane down the right, he then squares the ball across goal for Alli, who only has Bachmann to beat. However, the midfielder drags his effort just wide of the post. That should have gone in.
J. Hernández
J. King
65' Watford make their second change of the game, with King coming off and he has been replaced by Hernandez.
63' Dennis has been kept fairly quiet in the second half until now, with the striker just getting on the wrong side of Tanganga and the Spurs defender has to clear it behind for a corner to prevent him from getting into the box.
D. Alli
Yellow Card
61' Alli is booked after stepping across Sarr and stopping the winger from breaking forward on the counter-attack.
59' Decent effort! Son cuts in from the left, shifting the ball onto his right foot and tries to curl the ball into the back of the net. However, it's too close to Bachmann, who makes a comfortable save.
57' Not too far away! Sanchez meets Son's corner at the near post and flicks the ball towards the far corner of the net, but he gets too much on it and the ball flies just over the bar.
56' Tottenham are starting to pile on the pressure once again, much to the delight of the home supporters, who are creating a cracking atmosphere inside the stadium.
M. Sissoko
Yellow Card
54' Sissoko is booked after he clatters into the back of Skipp as the midfielder looked to bring the ball out from the back.
54' CHANCE! Watford with their best opportunity of the game to equalise! Sissoko does brilliantly to skip past Alli, he gets to the byline and delivers a low cross into the box, which is met by Sarr. However, the wingers' shot is superbly blocked by Sanchez from close range and Lloris manages to gather.
53' Watford have won just two of their last 22 away league games in London (D4 L16), and are winless in 10 in the capital (D3 L7) since back-to-back victories over West Ham and Crystal Palace in 2018-19.
J. Ngakia
C. Cathcart
51' Here is the enforced Watford change, with Cathcart heading off and he has been replaced by Ngakia.
50' Stoppage in play here as Cathcart is down on the pitch with an injury and he is receiving some medical treatment from the Watford physios. It doesn't look great for the right-back and he may have to depart.
48' The home side look eager to double their lead early in the second half, pressing high up the pitch and forcing Watford to sit deep and defend.
46' The second half is under way!
Tottenham ended the first period well on top and will be hoping to double their lead soon after the break to make it more comfortable, as Watford have shown that they have the quality to score at the other end.
Tottenham lead 1-0 at the break after a superb free-kick from Son just before the break. The home side looked the more dangerous side in the first half and fashioned a few chances to open the scoring earlier on, with Tanganga going the closest after forcing Bachmann into making a good save. However, they got their reward on 42 minutes, when Son's free-kick caught everyone out and flew into the back of the net. Watford have looked decent themselves in attack, but haven't tested Lloris enough.
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: TOTTENHAM 1-0 WATFORD
45' There will be a minimum of one minute added time played at the end of the first half.
H. Kane
Yellow Card
45' Kane is the first Tottenham player to be booked after he dives into the back of Sarr and gets nowhere near the ball. Poor challenge.
44' Son has now scored six goals in 10 Premier League appearances against Watford – only against Southampton (9) has he scored more in the competition.
Son Heung-Min
Goal
42' GOAL! Son fires Tottenham into the lead just before the break, it’s 1-0! He whips a terrific free-kick into the box from the left wing, looking for a team-mate to pounce on it in the six-yard box, but no-one touches it and it catches the Watford defence and keeper out, flying into the far right corner of the net. Bachmann reacted too late and couldn't stop it from going in.
41' Good defending! Alli tries to take the ball down in the box and work room for a volley, but Kucka gets himself in the way and coolly heads it back to his keeper, who gathers.
39' There isn’t long left to play before the end of the first half, can either side break the deadlock before the half-time whistle?
37' A few groans go round the stadium as Spurs work the ball into a good position in the final third, but a loose pass from Hojbjerg sends them backwards and it ends up going all the way back to Lloris at the other end.
35' Alli has been quiet for Tottenham so far, he has probably seen the least of the ball out of all the midfielders, but he is having to sit deep to help Reguilon out with Sarr.
33' Decent effort! Kane and Son link up really well in the final third, but can't fashion a chance, however, Watford fail to clear the danger and it comes straight back at them. Reguilon plays it through to Son, who aims for the bottom left corner of the net, but it flies wide of the post.
31' We’re past the half an hour mark now and it remains goalless between Tottenham and Watford. However, Spurs have had some great chances to open the scoring through Tanganga and Bergwijn.
O. Etebo
Yellow Card
28' Etebo slides in on Kane as he looked to play a pass back to Skipp and the midfielder is booked. Perhaps a tad harsh, as it looked like the Watford man slipped and didn’t intend to catch Kane. However, Tottenham won’t care as it hands them a free-kick in a very good position.
27' The visitors are enjoying a good spell of possession at the moment, slowing the pace down after a pacey opening 25 minutes. Spurs are having to soak up the pressure.
25' Watford have lost each of their last seven Premier League away games, failing to score on five occasions in that run. They last had a longer losing run on the road in the competition between December 1999 and May 2000 (10 games).
23' Kane has been heavily involved so far today, the striker is dropping deep to get on the ball and create space for team-mates.
21' Good chance! Dennis does really well to skip past a couple of Spurs defenders and work space for the shot in the box, but scuffs his effort and it is well blocked. However, the rebound is picked up by King, but his strike is blocked by Reguilon and Dier, allowing Lloris to easily gather.
20' CHANCE! Tanganga almost fires Spurs into the lead! A corner comes into the box from the right flank and Dier meets it at the near post, flicking it towards goal, but it's blocked and falls to Tanganga, who turns and fires the ball goalwards, but Bachmann makes himself big and makes a great save. It then bounces dangerously around the penalty area, before Watford eventually clear the danger.
19' Back-to-back corners for Tottenham now, after Watford fail to clear the danger from the first set piece. Spurs look strong at corners so far, causing the Watford defence to panic.
17' Tottenham have looked more dangerous in front of goal in the last few minutes, creating a few opportunities, but the visitors are still seeing plenty of the ball so they need to be careful at the back.
15' Decent save! The ball drops to Sarr at the far post just inside the penalty area, he dribbles past Reguilon and then fires a shot towards goal. However, the effort is too close to Lloris, who makes a good stop.
13' CHANCE! Really good move by Spurs, they open up the Watford defence as Tangaga sneaks down the right wing and pulls the ball back from the byline in the nick of time. Alli misses the header, but it falls to Bergwijn, who volleys an effort towards goal, but his shot is deflected over the bar.
11' Spurs have lost just one of their last 16 league games against Watford (W9 D6), going down 2-1 at Vicarage Road in September 2018.
9' Decent effort! Spurs work the ball well in the final third and Reguilon delivers a cross in from the left wing, which falls to Skipp, who then lays it off to Kane. The striker then tries to loop it over Bachmann and into the far corner of the net. However, it flies over the bar.
7' Watford are seeing plenty of the ball in the opening stages of the game, forcing Spurs back into their own half and the hosts don't look particularly comfortable at the back.
5' Sarr is already causing problems down the right wing for Watford, with Reguilon forced to dive in deep into the final third and give away a free-kick in order to stop him from sprinting into the box.
3' The pace of the game is electric early on, both teams are pushing forward and look dangerous in front of goal. Can either side grab an early goal?
1' Blocked! Watford counter quickly up the pitch and get the ball into the box from the left, it finds its way to Sissoko, who lays it off to Kucka, but his effort is well blocked by Dier.
1' PENALTY SHOUT! Kane is involved in the action straight away and goes down appealing for a penalty, but the referee waves away his appeals. Kane turned and tried to control the ball in the box, but Etebo barges into the back of him. It looked a little bit soft.
1' We're under way!
The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!
