Commentary

That's all for now though, goodbye!
The result means that Tottenham jump past Arsenal in the table and surge up to eighth place in the hunt for European qualification. The away side, meanwhile, drop to ninth (two points behind their opponents) as a positive end to the season looks increasingly unlikely.
Tottenham secure a critical 2-1 victory in the North London derby, after a second-half that Arsenal largely dominated. The first period was played out in an extremely open manner: Arsenal took the lead through Lacazette's superb strike from 20 yards, but they threw away the advantage immediately when Kolasinac's wayward backpass allowed Son to nip in and finish past Martinez. The away side then took control after the interval and dominated possession in a half where Aubameyang struck the post and had a wonderful volley saved by Lloris. However, the hosts took the lead against the run of play late on through Alderweireld's header and Arsenal failed to muster an equaliser, allowing Tottenham to claim a huge three points.

Yellow Card
87' Bergwijn immediately makes his mark with a cynical trip on the halfway line that results in a yellow card.

Son Heung-Min
Assist
81' It was an inviting delivery from Son and Alderweireld took full advantage to hand Tottenham the lead in a second half where they've largely been second best.
T. Alderweireld
Goal
81' TOTTENHAM TAKE THE LEAD! 2-1! Son whips in a dangerous delivery to the front post and it's met firmly by Alderweireld, who cushions his header across goal and into the far corner!
81' Martinez makes another great save! Lucas threads a neat pass beyond the Arsenal backline and through to Kane at an angle, but Martinez rushes out rapidly and closes Kane down before parrying his effort past the post!
80' Super save from Lloris!  Bellerin finds himself on the edge of the box and he curls a shot that loops off Sanchez and over to Aubameyang who hits a sweet volley across Lloris and towards the bottom corner, but the goalkeeper manages to scramble across and tip the effort inches wide!
78' Lo Celso attempts an inventive scoop through to Son inside the box, but it can't quite connect as Luiz stretches to cut the pass out.
H. Winks
Yellow Card
76' Winks is finally booked after a number of fouls - the latest being a trip on Lacazette, after the attacker had masterfully spun past him near the centre-circle.
74' That chance highlights Spurs' threat, even when they are struggling to establish any possession. Arsenal are largely controlling this game but they need to be wary about counter-attacks.
72' Brilliant save from Martinez! Kane fights hard to keep a hopeful clearance in play near the byline, before powering past Mustafi and into the box where he cuts it back for Son, who gets dispossessed at the last moment by the sliding Martinez! Without the goalkeeper's intervention that would surely have been a goal!
B. Saka
N. Pépé
70' Saka comes on for Pepe to refresh Arsenal's right flank.
68' The game is paused for another drinks break.
66' Arsenal are continuing to show much more ambition going forward than the hosts, but another move falls apart as Aubameyang overhits a pass out wide to Bellerin.
64' Arsenal break away after a Tottenham free-kick and quickly move it out wide to Tierney who attempts to pick out the run of Aubameyang, but Alderweireld does well to track him and fend the delivery off.
62' Arsenal win a promising free-kick just outside the box, but Pepe's resulting strike is driven straight into the wall. Nevertheless, the away side are getting closer and closer to finding a second goal currently.
N. Pépé
Yellow Card
61' Pepe pulls Davies over just as Spurs attempt a rare foray forward and the attacker is shown a yellow card.
60' Arsenal hit the bar! The away side patiently work a smart move that ends with Lacazette slipping Aubameyang in behind the defence at an angle, before the striker lashes a powerful effort against the near post! Lloris would have stood no chance if that was on target!
58' After a tight first half where Arsenal edged possession with 52%, the away side have taken charge so far in this second period. They've had 88% possession and have forced Tottenham into dropping deeper and deeper as the half has progressed.
56' Arsenal go close this time! Xhaka feints delightfully past Winks, before sliding a clever reverse pass through to Bellerin who charges into the box and just as he's about to fire his shot from close range Davies recovers to block it away for a throw-in!
54' Winks tugs back Ceballos just as he bursts into the Tottenham half, presenting the away side with a useful free-kick. Xhaka clips it in and Spurs fail to clear, before it eventually falls to Kolasinac who scuffs a harmless volley over the bar.
52' Brilliant defending from Mustafi! An incisive throughball from Lo Celso unleashes Lucas on the break and the attacker dashes past Bellerin before darting into the box, where Mustafi brilliantly anticipates his shot and blocks it away for a corner!
50' Arsenal settle into the second period with a long spell of harmless possession in the Tottenham half, that culminates with a Tierney cross that Sanchez nudges away from harm.
48' Kane had a busy first half for Spurs, recording two shots and a key pass. However, the hosts will likely need him to make the most of these chances if they're to claim three points today: Kane has scored 10 goals against Arsenal for Tottenham – if he scores in this game he’ll be the outright top scorer in these fixtures throughout history.
46' Arsenal get the second 45 underway.
If the game carries on in the same, adventurous way then you'd think there'll surely be more goals. Both teams look fluent and dangerous going forward, but equally, they look nervous and prone to errors defensively.
The sides go in level after a thrilling start in the North London derby. After a glaring early miss from Kane when clean through, Arsenal reacted quickly and took the lead when Lacazette lashed a stunning strike beyond Lloris from the edge of the area. However, the lead only lasted a matter of minutes after a costly backpass from Kolasinac allowed Son to race in behind and round Martinez before tapping into an empty net. From there, both teams had chances to gain an advantage, but Davies' rasping drive from distance couldn't beat the woodwork and Pepe narrowly missed for Arsenal from 20 yards too.
45' + 3' HALF TIME: Tottenham 1-1 Arsenal
B. Davies
Yellow Card
45' + 2' Davies joins the growing list of players to be booked after knocking over Lacazette near the halfway line.
45' + 1' Two minutes of stoppage time are added.
A. Lacazette
Yellow Card
45' Lacazette is booked for a cynical trip that prevents Lo Celso from breaking away.
45' Arsenal firmly clear the resulting set-piece at the near post and for a moment it looks as though a counter-attack is on, but Pepe can't quite slip a pass through to Aubameyang.
44' Kane works tirelessly to beat Luiz in the air and nod it down to Son, who lays it off to Lucas, before the winger cuts inside and has a shot deflected safely away for a corner.
42' Ceballos and Pepe make inroads with a neat one-two down the right before the latter sneaks into the box and curls a tame effort straight into the grasp of Lloris.
40' Pepe goes down under a slight touch from Davies, leaving Arsenal with a promising free-kick 25 yards from goal. Aubameyang steps up and attempts to place a side-footed effort into the top corner, but it sails narrowly wide.
38' The hosts enjoy a long spell of possession in the Arsenal half as they attempt to secure control of this game, but the move breaks down when Aurier's cross drifts too close to Martinez who gathers comfortably.
36' Despite conceding, both teams look undeterred and they're taking risks to push forward and attempt to grab a lead.
S. Aurier
Yellow Card
34' Aurier gets on the wrong side of Lacazette and opts to haul the attacker over to prevent the counter-attack, but earn himself a yellow card.
32' Pepe finds a pocket of space in between the Tottenham midfield and defence and he capitalises by driving towards goal before curling a swerving effort that drops a few yards wide of the far post.
30' Davies rattles the bar! Arsenal fail to clear a corner away and it falls to Davies who hammers a fantastic effort from 25 yards, that arrows beyond a helpless Martinez and off the bar!
28' Arsenal force another corner after a deep, dangerous cross from Bellerin, but Spurs hold firm and manage to hack the delivery away. Despite the equaliser, the away side look composed and keen to reestablish their lead.
26' Aurier crashes into Tierney near the touchline and concedes a free-kick. The defender can count himself fortunate that he wasn't booked, and that Arsenal failed to turn the set-piece into a shooting chance.
24' After a frantic opening, the game is paused for a drinks break.
23' Spurs eagerly push forward again as an Aurier cross flashes through the box, before deflecting to Sissoko who can't quite create the space for a shot, enabling Luiz to race across and clear.
21' Arsenal will be furious that they threw away their lead so easily - and so soon after scoring themselves! If they could have maintained concentration and tightened up at the back, the game would have become difficult for Spurs.
Son Heung-Min
Goal
19' SPURS EQUALISE IMMEDIATELY! 1-1! It's a disaster for Kolasinac, who hits a wayward pass backwards and beyond Luiz, allowing Son to race through on goal, before rounding Martinez and dinking it over the desperate lunge of Luiz and into the net!
G. Xhaka
Assist
16' Xhaka did brilliantly to guide Aurier's clearing tackle into the path of Lacazette, who did the rest with a thumping finish from distance!
A. Lacazette
Goal
16' BRILLIANT STRIKE FROM LACAZETTE! ARSENAL TAKE THE LEAD! 1-0! Spurs fail to clear their lines and eventually Aurier's challenge allows the ball to fall to Lacazette, who takes a touch, before lashing a fierce shot past Lloris at the near post from 20 yards!
G. Lo Celso
Yellow Card
15' Lo Celso is booked for a cynical trip on Xhaka near the halfway line.
15' Well, this has been a thrilling, open game so far! Both sides are showing real intent to get forward quickly - and in numbers - and both defences have looked uncomfortable.
14' Arsenal almost take the lead! The away side craft their first chance of the game as Bellerin skips past Davies before drilling it across the face of goal where Aubameyang manages to somehow miss the ball completely with his shot, meaning it runs to the edge of the area allowing Tierney to blast a speculative shot wide!
12' Kane misses a huge chance for the hosts! Lucas cuts inside from the left and deftly threads a lofted throughball to Kane who suddenly finds himself clean through on goal! However, the striker opts to try and lob the bouncing ball over Martinez who stands up tall to comfortably gather the effort!
10' Arsenal make their first proper foray forward of the game and they carefully work it out towards Tierney who swings in a devious cross that forces Alderweireld to concede a corner. The set-piece amounts to nothing however and Spurs take the chance to rebuild from the back.
8' Aurier and Sissoko combine neatly down the right flank, allowing the latter to scurry to the byline where he hangs up an inviting cross into the six-yard box that Martinez authoritatively claims ahead of Kane.
6' Recently, Tottenham have enjoyed a strong record in home matches against Arsenal: they're unbeaten in the last five such games with Arsenal only keeping a clean sheet in one of the last 10!
4' Spurs continue to exert pressure early on as Davies glides past Pepe before clipping in a dangerous cross that Kolasinac does well to nod away from harm at the back post.
2' Strong save from Martinez! Tottenham immediately press after clipping a long pass forwards and Son manages to force it to Lucas, who whips a powerful effort across goal from 25 yards that Martinez does well to leap across and claim!
1' Tottenham get the first half underway.
The players are emerging from the tunnel and kick off is just seconds away!
Arteta has tried to kickstart his spell at Arsenal by overturning many of the long-running problems at the club, and one of the main issues to change has been their away form. Victory today would go a long way to aiding this cause, with Arsenal looking to win their third consecutive away game for the first time since 2018 – while they last won three in a row without conceding in 2013!
Arsenal, on the other hand, elect to make just one change to the team that drew with Leicester a few days ago – Saka is replaced on the right flank by Pepe.
Tottenham make three changes to the side that drew with Bournemouth last time out: most notably, Vertonghen drops to the bench with Sanchez taking his place in the heart of defence. Aside from that, Jose Mourinho opts to rotate his wingers, with Bergwijn and Lamela making way for Son and Lucas.
SUBS: Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Cedric Soares, Sokratis, Joseph Willock, Matt Macey, Rob Holding, Reiss Nelson, Bukayo Saka, Lucas Torreira.
ARSENAL (3-4-3): Emiliano Martinez; Shkodran Mustafi, David Luiz, Saed Kolasinac; Hector Bellerin, Dani Ceballos, Granit Xhaka, Kieran Tierney; Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
SUBS: Ryan Sessegnon, Paulo Gazzaniga, Steven Bergwijn, Gedson Fernandes, Jan Vertonghen, Japhet Tanganga, Erik Lamela, Oliver Skipp, Tanguy Ndombele.
TOTTENHAM (4-3-3): Hugo Lloris; Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Ben Davies; Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso; Lucas Moura, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min.
Arsenal, meanwhile, sit just one point above Spurs in eighth – but, with three wins from their last four and a rejuvenated team under Mikel Arteta, they’ll be confident that they can extend that gap today.
Hello and welcome to live commentary of this Premier League fixture between Tottenham and Arsenal. The hosts enter this North London derby on the back of a disappointing draw with Bournemouth that ensured they dropped to 10th in the table. There’s still hope that a fine run of late form could help Spurs push for European qualification though, and they’ll be desperate to begin that against rivals Arsenal today.
