That brings an end to our coverage of the Premier League clash between Sheffield United and Wolves at Bramall Lane. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
Sheffield United will be seeking to secure back-to-back wins when they host Chelsea in their next match. Wolves, on the other hand, host Everton as they look to bounce back.
After a tightly-contested contest, Sheffield United secure an important win over Wolves with only minutes left to play. Neves had the visitors’ best opportunity in the first half, but his well-struck free-kick cannoned off the bar. Just as the game looked to be headed for a goalless draw, Egan nodded Norwood’s corner beyond Patricio with only two minutes left to play, giving Wolves no time to respond.
90' + 5' FULL TIME: SHEFFIELD UNITED 1-0 WOLVES
90' + 4' Egan’s match-winning goal is only the Blades’ second 90th-minute winner in the Premier League.
O. Norwood
Assist
90' + 3' Norwood’s set-piece deliveries into the box had not been the midfielder’s best for much of the game, but he came up with a moment of quality when it mattered most. The pace of the cross meant that it just needed directing towards goal, and Egan was happy to apply the finish.
J. Egan
Goal
90' + 3' GOAL! The home side have surely won it! The resulting, in-swinging corner from Norwood is delivered into the centre of the away side’s penalty area. Egan rises above Jonny and powerfully heads the ball into the top-left corner. 1-0.
90' + 2' WAS THAT THE CHANCE!? A low cross into the area from the right ricochets off a number of players in the box before landing at the feet of Osborn. From close range, the midfield steers it towards goal, but Patricio is quickly down to his left to turn the ball out for a corner.
90' + 1' The home side attempt to work a clever free-kick routine down the left-hand side of the penalty area, but Osborn’s low cross is turned behind for a corner by Dendoncker. The resulting set-piece comes to nothing.
90' The Blades are given a free-kick just outside of the visitors’ penalty area following a handball from Doherty. Norwood is standing over it.
90' There will be three added minutes at the end of this match.
88' Baldock creates a yard of space down the right flank and delivers a cross deep into Wolves' area. Doherty takes it down and just manages to sort his feet out before sending the ball out for a throw-in down the far side.
87' O’Connell was down momentarily, although he is now back to his feet and looks fine to continue.
85' Both sides are refusing to make any drastic tactical changes in their search for the opening goal in the final minutes with each continuing to defend resolutely.
83' An in-swinging corner from Norwood is sent in towards the far post, but Saiss deals with the initial delivery before Jonny hooks the ball to safety.
81' Wolves have won two of their last three away league games against Sheffield United, more than they had in their previous 16 visits.
79' Mousset picks the ball up just inside of the Wolves half and drives at the heart of the away side’s defence. He opens his body up and slices a powerful strike well wide of Patricio’s goal from distance.
L. Dendoncker
Adama Traoré
79' Espirito Santo decides to change things up for the closing stages as Traore makes way for Dendoncker.
77' GOOD CHANCE! Zivkovic receives the ball from O’Connell on the edge of the visitors’ box, turns, and lofts a cross in towards the back post. Baldock gets across Jonny but steers his header wide of Patricio’s far post. He should have done better there.
75' Boly pulls Zivkovic to the floor from behind and the home side have a free-kick in a promising position along the left flank. Norwood’s low cross fails to beat the first man and Wolves clear their lines.
73' Egan gets across to turn the ball out for a throw-in down the left flank with Jimenez looking to run into the space.
R. Zivkovic
B. Sharp
71' As we enter the final 20 minutes of normal time, Wilder makes his second substitution of the game as Zivkovic comes on in place of Sharp. It remains 0-0.
69' Jota goes down on the edge of the hosts’ penalty area under pressure from Basham and turns towards the referee. Atkinson was well placed to wave away the protests.
67' Doherty steers a pass towards Traore who had drifted in space down the right-hand side, although Stevens read the danger and slid in to make the interception.
65' Neither side are managing to create too many clear-cut chances with both teams well-drilled in their compact systems.
E. Stevens
Yellow Card
63' Atkinson let play go on in that earlier Wolves attack despite a cynical foul on Traore by Stevens. The wing-back is now booked and can have no complaints about the decision.
63' OPENING! Traore launches a quick counter which results in Jimenez drifting over to the right. The Mexican holds the ball up before lofting a cross into the box for Jota, who just gets under the delivery.
61' Coady receives the ball from Mourinho and attempts to drill a cross-field pass over to Traore. His effort, however, evades the Spaniard and rolls behind for a goal-kick to the home side.
59' 18 of the last 22 Premier League goals that Wolves have scored have come in the second half of matches. Can they find a breakthrough against the Blades?
57' CLOSE! Berge drives forward from midfield before sliding the ball over to the left for Stevens. The Irishman gets it out of his feet and whips an inviting low cross into the box. Mousset and Sharp both go for it, but neither are able to make contact as it runs behind for a goal-kick.
55' PENALTY? Basham goes down in the area under pressure from Coady and Jonny, although there are no appeals from the defender who was seemingly not touched.
53' OFFSIDE! Stevens plays a long, searching thoughball into the path of Sharp. The striker controls it well and fires the ball beyond Patricio and into the back of the net. However, the referee’s assistant has his flag up for offside.
52' The resulting set-piece is sent in towards the centre of the hosts’ box where O’Connell heads it out of the area. Neves picks up the loose ball and lashes an ambitious effort well wide.
51' The hosts win a free-kick in a dangerous position down the right flank after Egan impeded Jimenez. Moutinho is standing over it.
L. Mousset
O. McBurnie
49' The Blades make their first alteration of the match as McBurnie comes off for Mousset.
47' The home side have come out on the offensive after the break. A smart pass from Basham sets Baldock away down the right flank, but Coady is in the right placed to clear the wing-back's cross.
46' We are back underway! Atkinson, the referee, blows his whistle and the Blades get the second half kicked off.
Chris Wilder will be looking for more from his side after the restart following a fairly passive showing thus far. The Blades have managed just one shot on target and are yet to really test Patricio. The home side will want to see more from Berge in the second half as he has yet to get his foot on the ball and make things happen. Espirito Santo, meanwhile, will be pleased with how his side ended the first half. Jimenez and Traore began to link-up more frequently, and that partnership could be crucial if the visitors are to find the breakthrough in the remaining 45 minutes.
Following an even opening half of football, there is nothing to separate Sheffield United and Wolves at the break. Patricio was called into action early on to make a routine save from a McBurnie header, before Neves came closest to opening the scoring after 32 minutes, but his free-kick cannoned off the bar. The visitors grew into the game as the half went off, although they were unable to break the deadlock.
45' + 4' HALF TIME: SHEFFIELD UNITED 0-0 WOLVES
45' + 2' WIDE! Following a period of patient play from Wolves, Doherty picks out Moutinho a few yards outside of the hosts’ box. The midfielder opts to take it on first time and sends his strike wide to the right of Henderson’s goal.
45' + 1' Norwood sends a deep corner in towards the far post. Doherty gets his head to the ball first and clears the danger.
45' There will be three added minutes at the end of the first half.
43' Neves gets played in down the right-hand side of the home side’s penalty area, and his effort from a tight angle is easily claimed by Henderson.
42' As the half-time interval draws closer, the away side have just started to get a foothold in the game. Doherty takes on Stevens down the right flank, although Egan is well placed to clear the low cross in the centre of the box.
40' Traore finds himself in space down the right-hand side of the field. However, his delivery into the box is not his finest as it cleanly lands in Henderson’s gloves.
38' Boly’s back-pass is a little short for Patricio, who just manages to get a much-needed touch to steer Sharp’s attempted ball across the box away to safety with his feet.
36' NOT FAR AWAY! Jimenez drifts over to the left-hand side of the Sheffield United penalty area and cuts inside before laying it off for Neves. The Portuguese international takes a touch and fires a well-struck effort wide to the right of Henderson’s goal from range.
34' Stevens receives the ball in space and spots the run of Sharp ahead of him. The English striker just makes his run a fraction too early and is flagged for offside.
32' OFF THE BAR! Neves beats the hosts’ wall with a curling right-footed free-kick before seeing his effort cannon behind off the woodwork. Henderson looked well beaten by that strike.
J. O'Connell
Yellow Card
30' On the break, Jota knocks the ball past O’Connell, who cynically brings the attacker down and is shown the first yellow card of the match. Neves now stands over a free-kick in a dangerous central position.
29' CHANCE! Following a neat passage of play, Traore skips beyond a number of Sheffield United defenders before lofting a cross in towards the far post. Jonny rises highest to meet the delivery, but his tame effort is easily gathered by Henderson.
27' Jota makes a darting off-the-ball run in field, although he and Saiss are not on the same page as the defender floats a pass down the left flank and Wolves lose possession.
25' Baldock trips Jota from behind deep inside the Wolves half, and Espirito Santo’s side are given a free-kick.
24' Doherty attempts to loft a pass towards Jimenez, but his attempted ball into the Mexican is overhit and runs through to Henderson.
22' The Blades are looking for three consecutive home wins in the Premier League for the first time since August 1993.
20' Traore is beginning to become more involved now for Wolves. He picks the ball up on the edge of the hosts’ box before skipping beyond both Stevens and O’Connell, although his low cross deflects to Basham who clears his lines.
18' CHANCE! After some clever play down the left flank, O’Connell creates a yard of space to whip a cross into the box. McBurnie gets across Coady, but his flicked header is directed straight into Patricio’s gloves.
17' Berge spots the run of Baldock ahead of him and plays an inch-perfect throughball beyond the Wolves defence for the overlapping full-back. The Englishman’s delivery into the box, however, fails to find a teammate and is hooked away to safety.
16' Sharp is impeded by Jonny and the Blades are awarded a free-kick just inside their own half.
14' OPENING! A searching, long pass down the right flank finds Traore in acres of space. The winger drives into the Sheffield United penalty area before pulling it back to Jimenez in the centre of the box, although the Mexican is dispossessed by O’Connell just as he was shaping to unleash a shot.
12' Jimenez links up with Jonny down the left side of the hosts' penalty area. The wing-back picks his head and floats a cross into the box. Egan spots the danger and gets across to powerfully head the delivery clear.
10' Norwood looks to send Sharp in behind the visitors’ defence with a throughball, but the referee’s assistant has his flag up for offside against the striker.
9' Norwood whips in a corner from the right after Jonny turned the ball behind, and it is nodded to safety at the near post by Coady.
7' Jota looks to skip beyond Norwood in the centre of the park and is brought down by the Sheffield United midfielder. Wolves opt to play the set-piece back towards their own goal.
5' After a foul by Boly on Sharp, O’Connell takes a short free-kick from the left-hand side of the field as the hosts look to retain possession.
4' Some pressure from Berge forces Saiss to play the ball out for a throw-in down the far side of the field. Neither team are yet to take control of proceedings.
3' There is going to be an early stoppage in play as Traore is down and in need of medical attention. He is holding his shoulder following a collision with Stevens. The Spaniard is now back to his feet and able to continue.
1' Kick off! The referee, Martin Atkinson, blows his whistle and Wolves get us underway.
The teams are out, and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Bramall Lane.
The Blades have won just one of their last eight league games against Wolves, though it was in their most recent home match against them in September 2017.
Since the resumption of the Premier League, Sheffield United have won only one of their four matches. Moreover, in that time, Chris Wilder’s side have failed to keep a single clean sheet. Despite that, the hosts will still be targeting a European place as they come into this fixture ninth in the table, just four points behind their opposition. The visitors, on the other hand, have claimed victory in three of their previous four games, losing only to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. A win today will see Nuno Espirito Santo’s side go level with fifth-placed Manchester United, and five points clear of the Gunners.
Sheffield United make two changes for this clash following their scored draw with Burnley last time out. O’Connell comes into the defence to make his first start since the restart with Robinson dropping to the bench, while Sharp takes the place of David McGoldrick, who misses out with a foot injury. The visitors, meanwhile, make only one alteration for this fixture, with Espirito Santo recalling Jota in place of Dendoncker.
WOLVES SUBS: John Ruddy, Oskar Buur, Leander Dendoncker, Maximilian Kilman, Ruben Vinagre, Bruno Jordao, Morgan Gibbs-White, Daniel Podence, Leonardo Campana.
SHEFFIELD UNITED SUBS: Simon Moore, Jack Robinson, Phil Jagielka, Kieron Freeman, Jack Rodwell, John Lundstram, Lys Mousset, Richairo Zivkovic.
WOLVES (3-4-3): Rui Patricio; Willy Boly, Conor Coady, Romain Saiss; Matt Doherty, Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Jonny; Adama Traore, Diogo Jota, Raul Jimenez.
SHEFFIELD UNITED (3-5-2): Dean Henderson; Chris Basham, John Egan, Jack O’Connell; George Baldock, Sander Berge, Oliver Norwood, Ben Osborn, Enda Stevens; Oliver McBurnie, Billy Sharp.
The home side come into this game looking to build on their most recent result after drawing 1-1 with Burnley in their previous match. Wolves, meanwhile, will be seeking a return to winning ways after losing 2-0 to Arsenal last time out in the league.
Hello and welcome to live match coverage of the Premier League fixture between Sheffield United and Wolves at Bramall Lane.
