Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Both teams are back in Scottish Premier League action on Wednesday. Rangers travel to face St Johnstone, while Celtic are away at Aberdeen.
Rangers advance to the last eight of the Scottish Cup courtesy of a 2-0 victory over their Old Firm rivals Celtic at Ibrox this afternoon. A sublime overhead kick from Steven Davis put the home side in front before Jonjoe Kenny sent Joe Aribo's cross into his own net. Celtic had an abundance of great chances to work their way back into the contest, but failed to take any of their opportunities, including Odsonne Edouard's penalty miss. It was a day to forget for the Bhoys, but Steven Gerrard and his team march on towards the prospect of a league and cup double this season.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: RANGERS 2-0 CELTIC
90' + 3' CHANCE! Griffiths latches on to a rare mistake from McGregor as he fumbles Turnbull's corner into his path. The striker chests it down before unleashing a strike on the half-volley towards goal, but he blazes his effort over the bar.
90' + 2' It has been one of those days in front of goal for the Bhoys. They've had ample chances in the game to at least push the Gers in the closing stages, but it has not been their afternoon.
R. Kent
Yellow Card
90' + 1' Kent goes into the book for obstruction in the closing stages.
90' There will be four minutes of added time.
88' Rangers have not been outstanding this afternoon, but have done enough to advance to the quarter-finals. Gerrard will be a very pleased man on the sideline.
A. Ajeti
M. Elyounoussi
86' Elyounoussi is withdrawn for Ajeti in the final third.
B. Barišić
Yellow Card
85' Barisic goes into the book for the home side for a loose challenge.
84' CHALLENGE! Taylor saves a certain goal as he does just enough at the back post to nudge Davis' perfect low ball away from Aribo. Rangers and Aribo want a penalty, but the referee points for only a corner.
82' SAVE! Roofe turns away from his man on the edge of the box and hammers a strike towards goal that Bain watches all the way into his hands.
K. Roofe
A. Morelos
80' Roofe replaces Morelos in the final third for the home side.
A. McGregor
Penalty Save
79' SAVE! McGregor continues his excellent afternoon with a fine stop to deny Edouard from 12 yards. He dives to his right and palms the ball away from danger. Goldson is fouled as he nods the rebound away, handing Rangers a free-kick to clear their lines.
O. Édouard
Penalty Miss
79' MISS! EDOUARD FAILS TO CONVERT FROM THE SPOT! The striker lines up his effort and hammers a low strike towards the left side of the goal. However, it fails to hit the corner and McGregor gets across to make the save. That sums up Celtic's afternoon in front of the net.
78' PENALTY TO CELTIC! Edouard's free-kick is blocked into the path of Griffiths, who is nudged over in the box by Aribo. The referee points to the spot.
77' Brown makes a neat turn on the edge of the Rangers box and is brought down by a loose challenge from Goldson. Celtic have a free-kick in a dangerous position.
75' Turnbull whips a dangerous cross into the box from the left flank that Arfield clears. Kenny latches on to the loose ball, but he hammers his right-footed effort well over the bar.
J. Ayodele-Aribo
Yellow Card
74' Aribo catches Ajer with a stray arm and goes into the book for his challenge.
L. Griffiths
R. Christie
73' Griffiths replaces Christie for the visitors. Celtic need something special from the forward.
70' There has been no shortage of attacking ideas from Celtic this afternoon, but their finishing has been well below the standard required.
68' OVER! Welsh latches on to a loose ball following a corner from McGregor, but he can only lift his left-footed strike on the half-volley over the bar.
67' Taylor whips a low cross into the box that evades Goldson at the near post and travels towards Edouard. However, he cannot take it in stride and Goldson has to scramble it behind for a corner.
65' SAVES! Kent turns away from Brown with ease before launching a blast on his right foot. Bain makes the stop before Morelos pounces on the rebound, but he can only steer an instinctive strike straight at the Celtic keeper.
63' It has been a terrific contest for attacking football. The only difference between the sides has been the finishing in the final third.
61' Morelos and Arfield almost combine to unlock the Celtic defence. The latter flicks a ball over the top of Ajer, but Welsh gets across to clear ahead of the midfielder before he can strike at goal. Welsh is caught in the process and wins a free-kick.
60' CHANCE! Elyounoussi misses a golden opportunity on this occasion. Edouard surges into space in the final third and offloads for unmarked Elyounoussi. However, the forward takes a poor first touch and allows McGregor to smother the opening. Edouard latches on to the rebound, but the recovering Helander gets in an important block.
58' Celtic have had their opportunities in the contest, but have lacked the quality in the crucial moments of the game.
57' MISS! Edouard blazes a strike over the bar, spurning a great opportunity for the visitors to get back into the game. Elyounoussi surges down the right flank and skips past Helander and Goldson. He sees his strike blocked into the path of Edouard by McGregor, who has an open goal to aim for. The Frenchman takes on the effort first time, but sends it over.
54' Aribo pushes forward through the middle of the park before unleashing a powerful left-footed drive at goal. Welsh puts his body on the line to block the shot and divert it towards Bain.
51' Rangers are looking to control the pace of the game. There's no need for them to force the issue, although Gerrard would love a third goal to effectively kill off the contest.
49' Aribo, Arfield and Patterson almost combine down the right flank, but the latter is just offside from Arfield's pass into the inside channel.
S. Brown
Yellow Card
47' Brown takes out Kent on the charge and goes into the book for the Bhoys.
46' We're back under way at Ibrox.
G. Taylor
D. Laxalt
46' Laxalt endured a tough first half and has been withdrawn by Kennedy and replaced with Taylor.
Celtic had a five-minute period when they were dominant, but Welsh among others could not capitalise on their opportunities. John Kennedy will need a supreme second-half effort from his team to avoid crashing out of the competition and a trophy-less season.
Rangers hold a 2-0 lead over Celtic at the interval of their Scottish Cup fourth-round clash. Steven Davis put the home side ahead with a sublime overhead kick from close range. The Bhoys had chances to level no more so than Steven Welsh, who misfired from six yards. Celtic were duly punished when Jonjoe Kenny diverted Joe Aribo's cross into his own net to put the Gers in command.
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: RANGERS 2-0 CELTIC
45' There will be one minute of added time.
44' Celtic are working the ball around the pitch, but there's no penetration for the Bhoys. They had the home side on the ropes for a five-minute spell, but their lack of clinical edge has cost them thus far.
42' Turnbull floats a ball over the top for Elyounoussi, but he handles the ball under pressure from Helander. The winger feels he was fouled by the Rangers defender on the edge of the box.
40' Kent is a thorn in the side of the visitors once more. He twists and turns before offloading back to Barisic, but the full-back fails to find a blue shirt with his cross deep to the back post.
39' CLOSE! Celtic win a free-kick on the left flank and Turnbull whips it into the box on his right foot. It misses everyone in the area before travelling inches wide of the post.
36' Celtic are rueing those missed opportunities now. It will take a special effort from Kennedy's men to work their way back into the contest.
J. Kenny
Own Goal
34' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! KENNY SCORES AN OWN GOAL !!!! 2-0 RANGERS!!!!! The home side double their advantage as Kenny puts the ball into his own net amid pressure from Kent. Aribo is the architect with a brilliant run down the right flank. He breezes past Laxalt with ease before clipping a low ball to the near post. Kent makes a run and puts the pressure on Kenny six yards out. The ball strikes off the boot of Kenny, who has to act, before it flies past Bain.
32' Aribo and Kamara try to force their way through the Celtic defence on the edge of the box. Both players are repelled before Arfield lines up a half-volley, but his effort is blocked by Ajer.
31' Patterson has a charge at Laxalt down the right flank and gets the better of the full-back. He goes for the blast to the near post, but only hits the side-netting.
30' OFFSIDE! Barisic sends Davis down the left flank, who cuts a ball back to Arfield on the edge of the box. Arfield curls a strike just wide of the right post, although it would not have counted away as Davis was offside in the build-up.
29' Celtic have been the better side since Davis' goal. The Gers need to establish a period of possession to attempt to bring the game back under control.
27' Will Celtic rue that spell of chances later in the contest? They had the home side on the ropes, but could not find the back of the net.
25' OVER! The pressure on the Rangers goal continues. Christie creates space for himself to shoot at goal, but his effort is deflected over the top by Kent.
24' CHANCES! Welsh somehow fails to convert from close range. McGregor fires a low cross in from the left flank and Welsh gets behind Helander. However, he steers attempt away from the net and away from danger. Ajer tries to keep the attack alive with a low drive that is blocked by Helander.
23' OVER! Celtic are all over Rangers at the moment. McGregor drops his shoulder and he surges past Goldson in the right-inside channel. He fires at goal on his left foot, but it is touched over the bar by McGregor.
22' WIDE! Celtic keep the pressure on the home side. Christie finds space for an effort, only for the Scot to drag his effort wide of the right post.
21' SAVE! Turnbull sends a pass to Edouard on the edge of the box. He twists and turns to open up space for a strike, but he sends his blast straight at McGregor.
19' Turnbull turns his way past Davis and rolls an offload towards Edouard, but Helander does just enough to force the ball away from the forward in the box as McGregor comes out to gather.
17' Laxalt and McGregor combine down the left flank, but the latter fails to deliver a quality cross into the box.
15' Turnbull launches a cross into the box from the left flank, but there's no green and white shirt in the vicinity, allowing McGregor to gather with ease.
13' Kent tries to steer an offload forward into the path of the advancing Arfield, but Christie does enough to fend off the winger, although he concedes a corner in the process.
12' Rangers have the initiative now and are putting the pressure on the visitors every time they push forward.
S. Davis
Goal
10' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! DAVIS PUTS RANGERS AHEAD!!!! 1-0!!! The Northern Ireland international scores a sublime overhead kick to put the home side ahead. Kent leads a break, but gets wiped out by Welsh. The referee plays advantage allowing Aribo to line up a blast. His effort is blocked, but Davis is alert on the rebound and plants a strike over his head and past Bain. A super effort from Davis.
8' Brown sends a long ball over the top for the run of Edouard, but it bounces safely into the hands of McGregor.
7' Turnbull looks for space down the right flank, but the room closes amid pressure from Barisic.
5' Patterson has a surge down the right flank and he clips a cross back into the middle that Brown hooks clear.
3' It has been an open contest in the early stages of the game. The visitors are looking to get their foot on the ball to force back the gers.
1' We're under way at Ibrox.
Rangers have won only three of their 10 matches against Celtic in the Scottish Cup.
Celtic have made two changes to their side that crushed Livingston in their last outing. James Forrest is absent from the squad and is replaced by Laxalt in the attacking third of the pitch. Taylor drops to the bench at left-back, which allows Christie to start.
Rangers have made one change to their side that beat Hibernian last time out. Roofe drops out of the starting line-up to the bench and Arfield gets the nod to start alongside Kent and Morelos in the final third.

Celtic eased past Falkirk in tbe last round of the competition and are unbeaten in their last five matches. John Kennedy will be desperate to see that level of display in a bid to swing momentum back towards his team in Glasgow before the end of the campaign.
Rangers will be determined to put one over their Old Firm rivals Celtic once again this term, having already won two out of their three meetings. Steven Gerrard's men won the first two matches before playing out a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park last month. Having already wrapped up the Scottish Premier League, the Gers will be eyeing another triumph to do the double and end their drought without the Scottish Cup that stretches back to 2009.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Scottish Cup fourth-round clash between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox.
