After taking the lead through Gavranovic and Freuler, the Swiss were pegged back by Werner's left-footed finish and went in 2-1 up at the break. Five minutes of second-half chaos then saw Germany equalise twice, thanks to goals from Havertz and Gnabry, either side of Gavranovic grabbing Switzerland's third. There were to be no more goals in the game as it ended 3-3, despite Schar being sent off late on for his second yellow.

54' Kroos fails to play a simple pass out towards Goretzka and Switzerland get the throw-in. However, yet again they immediately gift possession back to the hosts, allowing Low's side another chance to formulate an attack.
52' There is confusion in the Swiss area as Rudiger is unmarked but the centre-back can only make a poor connection with Kroos' free-kick. Rodriguez and Schar then combine to hoof the rebound well away from goal.

48' Havertz and Werner exchange passes with one another before the latter lashes a right-footed shot high and wide of Sommer in the Switzerland net.
47' Zuber tests Neuer early from range, however, his shot on his right foot is weak and easy for Germany's captain to dive on.

The Swiss will be looking for more of the same in the second half as they have matched Germany's every move and looked clinical going forward. Prior to the game, Low demanded more creativity from his side, which is exactly what he will be asking for again during this half-time break.
Petkovic's team started brightly and Gavranovic grabbed a deserved lead with his header from close range. Freuler then doubled the Swiss lead with his coolly chipped finish, however, Chelsea pairing Werner and Havertz combined to instantly peg their opponents back. The sides go in 2-1 at half-time which is perhaps unfair on the visitors, who have been excellent.

44' CHANCE! Kimmich plays a short pass to Kroos, who shifts the ball onto his left and shoots from 25 yards out. The Real Madrid's midfielder shot looks to have Sommer scrambling but goes just the wrong side of the left-hand post.
42' Kroos shoves Shaqiri out the way before sliding in Goretzka but Sommer is alert to the potential opportunity and dives on the throughball.
40' Rudiger makes consecutive clumsy fouls, which will again allow the visitors a chance to put their foot on the ball and calm down the game.
38' Werner, Gnabry and Goretzka look to close in on the Swiss defence, however, Elvedi does well to get round to cover and then clear the danger out for a German throw-in on the left.

35' SAVE! Gosens latches onto a loose clearance and shoots with the outside of his left boot from 25 yards out. The full-back's attempt looks destined for the top right-hand corner before Sommer makes a superb save and tips it over the bar.
33' Seferovic is fouled by the combination of Klostermann and Ginter, which allows the Swiss a chance to regain their composure and take some time over their free-kick.
31' Switzerland recorded their only win in their previous 21 matches against Germany in May 2012, with then Hoffenheim forward Eren Derdiyok scoring a hat-trick in a 5-3 triumph in Basel. Could this game be heading towards as many goals after this quick start?

He races into the area before sliding in Freuler, who chips over Neuer with his right foot. Rudiger does his best on the line but doesn’t get there in time to clear it.
25' Kroos intercepts and curls a wonderful pass to Werner through the centre, however, Chelsea's striker can't sort his feet out and the throughball rolls into the hands of Sommer.
24' Schar calmly dances past three Germany attackers before drilling in a pass to Shaqiri, who plays in Seferovic, but the striker then shoots way over the target with his left foot from the edge of the area.
22' Kimmich is in acres of space 30 yards out but can only slice his right-footed effort well wide of Sommer's goal.
21' Gnabry rolls in Gosens and again his cross is poor, making it easy for Schar to clear long. The Swiss are camped in their own half now but Germany aren't creating too many good chances.
19' Xhaka intercepts a poorly directed cross from Gosens, yet unfortunately for the Swiss, Seferovic cannot hold the ball up front and the Germans win possession back.
17' Shaqiri unfairly challenges Kimmich and Germany have a free-kick in a decent area. Low's side work it wide and cross in towards Havertz, who handballs the cross and the chance to attack is gone as the Swiss are given a free-kick.
15' CHANCE! Neuer is far too confident as he tries to chip a pass to Ginter and Seferovic nearly punishes the goalkeeper for his mistake. The striker's initial shot is blocked but falls to Gavranovic, who rounds Rudiger before shooting at the feet of Neuer from close range.
13' Rodriguez does incredibly well to make a sliding clearance after Goretzka tries playing in Gnabry on the right of the area. The hosts take the corner and immediately earn another.
11' Klostermann sends a searching cross towards the back post, however, Elvedi jumps higher than Havertz and averts the danger in the box.
9' This has been a quick start by the visitors, the hosts are looking to press high but the Swiss' three-man defence look comfortable playing out from the back and breaking between German lines.

4' SAVE! Shaqiri is in acres of room from Freuler's low cross into the area but Liverpool's winger can only hit the feet of Neuer from close range and the ball trickles out for a corner.
3' Despite it looking like 4-4-2 before the game, it appears Petkovic has opted for a three-man defence of Schar, Rodriguez, Elvedi with Zuber and Widmer pushing on as wing-backs.
1' Havertz instantly breaks through the Swiss defence and earns a corner for his side on the right-hand side. Kimmich and Kroos play short together but nothing comes of the set-piece.

Low makes three changes from his side in Kiev, with new Chelsea signings Havertz and Werner both coming in to the team, while Gosens also replaces Sule at the back.
