Thank you for joining our coverage, we hope you enjoyed the game! Until next time, goodbye!
Brighton visit Southampton next, while City host Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.
There goes the full-time whistle! City romp to another 5-0 win with Sterling scoring his fourth Premier League hat-trick for the club. The Englishman fired in low to open the scoring from the edge of the box, before heading in from Mahrez's lovely cross in the second half and nodding in a bizarre third to cap things off. Jesus scrambled home from a corner and Bernardo Silva sidefooted home as well as Brighton were dismantled at home. It finishes 5-0 to City!
90' + 2' FULL-TIME: BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION 0-5 MANCHESTER CITY
90' + 1' Brighton are almost at a standstill as the final seconds tick away, with City passing the ball between themselves near the halfway line briefly before working their way forward again.
89' City play out from the back after defending a rare Brighton attack, but Lamptey is still returning from behind the defensive line and tries to nick the ball off Laporte. He's overzealous in his efforts, however, and hauls the centre-half down, conceding a free-kick.
87' Since he joined City in 2015, only Harry Kane (9) and Sergio Aguero (7) have scored more Premier League hat-tricks than Sterling (4).
85' WIDE! Mahrez tries to get in on the act as he finds himself in space on the right of the box, but he shoots with his weaker right foot from a tight angle and blasts wide!
Y. Bissouma
Yellow Card
83' Bissouma picks up the first yellow card of the game for a frustrated barge on Fernandinho.
R. Sterling
Goal
81' GOAL!!! STERLING GETS HIS HAT-TRICK IN BIZARRE FASHION!! David Silva lofts a lovely ball forward and Sterling tries to flick it over the head of Dunk. The Brighton captain gets his head on it first and tries to play it back to his keeper, but there's confusion in the Seagulls defence as Ryan comes charging out and Sterling goes to ground, managing to nod the ball goalwards past the Australian on his way down. Burn tries desperately to clear it off the line, but he can only ping it in off the base of the post! It's now 5-0 to City!
D. Burn
P. Groß
78' Burn enters the fray now as Potter throws on an extra defender at the expense of Gross.
78' MISS! How has Mahrez missed?! The winger makes a terrific run in behind to latch onto a lovely ball over the top of the defence and gets there before Ryan, poking it past the onrushing goalkeeper. Two defenders block his route to goal and the Algerian jinks past the first challenge before shooting, but loses his balance and smashes into the side-netting with the goal gaping!
76' Brighton see a rare glimpse of the ball and foray tentatively forward, but nobody can meet Jahanbaksh's cross from the left and it's a simple take for Ederson.
74' City are working the ball around smoothly. They've really clicked today. There's less urgency in their game now - understandably - but Brighton seem to have given up hope and aren't getting near them.
Fernandinho
Rodri
72' Fernandinho also comes on to replace Rodri. It's a rare chance for the Brazilian to play in his preferred defensive midfield role, having spent much of the season at centre-back to cover for injuries.
J. Stones
Eric García
72' The game suffers further disruption as Guardiola makes a double-switch. Stones replaces Garcia alongside Laporte at the heart of the defence.
A. Jahanbakhsh
L. Trossard
70' Jahanbakhsh takes to the field in place of Trossard, who came close to levelling the scores in the first half.
68' There's a rare stoppage and the teams take the opportunity to have a drinks break. Potter appears to be planning further substitutions.
66' Sterling is now up front, with Foden taking his place on the left of the front three.
David Silva
K. De Bruyne
64' David Silva takes both De Bruyne's place in midfield and the captain's armband as the Belgian departs the field.
O. Zinchenko
B. Mendy
64' Mendy also makes way for Zinchenko at left-back in the second part of a triple-change.
P. Foden
Gabriel Jesus
64' Jesus does not look pleased at being brought off for Foden, with Guardiola making changes now the game looks to be wrapped up.
61' Sterling tries to land his hat-trick, but his effort from outside the box is high and wide this time.
N. Maupay
A. Connolly
59' Finally, Maupay comes on up front for Connolly, who has hardly had a sniff all game.
D. Stephens
D. Pröpper
59' Stephens replaces Propper in a like-for-like alteration in midfield as the second substitution.
T. Lamptey
Martín Montoya
59' Potter responds to his side conceding a fourth by making a triple substitution. It may be a little too late to affect the scoreline in a meaningful way, but Lamptey replaces Montoya at right-back in the first change.
Gabriel Jesus
Assist
56' Jesus didn't know a lot about it as he was trying to turn home the rebound, but he forced Dunk into action and the ball took a nick back off the striker on its way back to Silva, who sidefooted in calmly.
Bernardo Silva
Goal
56' GOAL!!! SILVA MAKES IT FOUR!! The Portuguese's first effort was saved by Ryan and Jesus couldn't latch onto the rebound as Dunk dived to intervene. It found its way back to Silva in space inside the box, however, and he made no mistake with the finish the second time, slotting into the bottom-left corner! It's now 4-0 to City!
55' That strike means this is now Sterling's best-ever season in terms of goalscoring output, with 26.
R. Mahrez
Assist
53' Mahrez stretched the pitch by staying wide and was left in space. His first touch set him up perfectly and his second was a gorgeous cross that Sterling just couldn't help but convert!
R. Sterling
Goal
53' GOAL!!! STERLING HEADS HOME HIS SECOND!! Mendy wins the ball high up on the left and finds Sterling to his right. The winger squares for De Bruyne, who drives to the edge of the box and finds Mahrez, who cuts onto his left and lofts in a superb cross that Sterling heads emphatically home at the back post! It's 3-0 to City now!
51' POST! De Bruyne's free-kick is up and down over the wall perfectly, but it's just a few inches too far to the left and it pings back off the outside of the post! Silva's attempted shot turns into a low cross for Sterling, whose snap-shot is straight into the arms of Ryan!
50' City work the ball patiently in triangles in the Brighton third and De Bruyne receives in space in the inside-left channel. He drives towards the edge of the box and Bissouma brings him down in desperation. This is well within the Belgian's shooting range.
48' A raking ball from the back picks Mahrez out on the right wing, scampering into space, but the linesman's flag goes up for offside.
46' We're back underway for the second half!
City have created chances with ruthless efficiency and Jesus' movement up front has been key to that, but the Brazilian has also been guilty of wasting a couple of opportunities. However, he will undoubtedly continue to get chances as City dismantle Brighton's defence with ease and regularity. Potter needs to change something soon, or his side could be on the end of a very unflattering scoreline.
There goes the half-time whistle! Manchester City have been devastating going forward and could easily have more goals than the two they put away. Sterling opened the scoring with a low strike into the bottom-right corner from just outside the area, before Jesus scrambled home a corner to double the visitors' advantage. Brighton have had a couple of chances of their own in an open game, but City deservedly lead 2-0 at the break!
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION 0-2 MANCHESTER CITY
45' + 1' Jesus has now scored 20 goals in all competitions for a second consecutive season (21 in 2018/19). Additionally, City have won 30 of their previous 31 Premier League games when Jesus has scored, including the last 28 in a row.
Gabriel Jesus
Goal
44' GOAL!!! JESUS DOUBLES CITY'S LEAD!! Rodri heads the resulting corner towards the back post where Jesus is waiting to scramble home past Ryan! The striker has got himself into plenty of good positions this evening and finally has a goal to show for it. It's 2-0 to Manchester City now!
Rodri
Assist
44' Rodri may have been heading for goal himself, but he rose highest to meet the ball with a good leap and directed his header into a good area for Jesus to attack.
43' Walker sprints down the right towards the byline and fizzes a cross towards the middle, but it's turned behind well for a corner.
41' A handball by Rodri gives Brighton the chance to whip the ball into the area from the left. Dunk attacks it but can't keep his header on target and it flies wide!
39' OVER! Trossard meets a cross from the left with his back to goal and tries to flick the ball into the far corner, but gets underneath it and it sails over the bar! He actually took the chance away from Connolly behind him, who may have been in a better position to score.
37' CLOSE! Jesus does superbly to hold onto the ball on the edge of the box as he evades several challenges with quick feet, before prodding the ball on for Mahrez to his right. The Algerian curls towards the far corner first-time, but it's agonisingly wide of the post!
36' CROSSBAR! Jesus just can't get a lucky break! He wriggles into space in the box well again and unleashes a low drive towards the near post, but it takes a nick off the leg of a defender, bounces up and pings back out off the bar!
34' City look dangerous every time they attack - Brighton just can't deal with them at the moment.
32' OVER! Another City chance goes begging! De Bruyne lofts a lovely ball over the top for Jesus to run onto in the box, but the striker gets under the ball and heads over the bar from the penalty spot!
30' Sterling has scored with each of his last two shots in the Premier League, having scored with just two of his previous 26.
28' BLOCK! Sterling finds himself on the edge of the box again, but prods it wide for Jesus to his right and he shoots powerfully, but Bernardo blocks the shot bravely behind for a corner.
26' CLOSE! Trossard gets down the left and does well to hold onto the possession with quick feet and changes of direction before curling towards the far corner, but it's just wide!
24' That was City's 15th Premier League goal from outside the box this season, three more than any other side.
22' SIDE_NETTING! Mendy bursts forward from the left and gets into the box where he is found by Mahrez. He unleashes a piledriver of a shot towards the near post, but it smashes into the side-netting!
Gabriel Jesus
Assist
21' Jesus did well with his back to goal, nodding wide for his team-mate to take Montoya on as he drifted inside from the left.
R. Sterling
Goal
21' GOAL!!! STERLING FIRES CITY AHEAD!! The ball is worked quickly into the feet of Jesus and the striker links up with Sterling on the edge of the box. The winger cuts inside and calmly slots his shot into the bottom-right corner past a diving Ryan! It's 1-0 to City!
19' City are working the ball into wide areas consistently and are finding plenty of joy there as the full-backs maraud forward and combine with the wingers and wide central midfielders.
17' MISS! How has he not scored? The resulting corner is delivered beautifully by Mahrez and it finds Garcia on the edge of the six-yard box, but he miscues his attempt to steer it in and shanks wide from close range! What a miss!
16' WIDE! A lovely ball through the lines finds Sterling on the left and he cuts it back for Mendy on the edge of the box. The left-back strikes sweetly and the effort takes a wicked deflection on the way through that sends the ball spinning just past the right-hand post!
14' After a fast start, City's tempo has ebbed ever so slightly as they work the ball around in search of openings.
12' City have been dominant in possession - as you would expect. Brighton are choosing their moments to press high but are mostly sitting off and inviting pressure in their own half.
10' Connolly thinks he is away in behind as he races onto a ball over the top of City's high line, but the back four stepped up well and caught the striker offside.
8' BLOCK! Jesus is found in space inside the box again and he sets himself before shooting, but Dunk had positioned himself well and blocks the ball behind for a corner. The Brazilian is getting into good areas early on, but his shooting hasn't looked as sharp as his movement.
6' MISS! Jesus is picked out perfectly with an inch-perfect cross from Mendy on the left, but the striker gets his header all wrong and steers it well wide of the target from the penalty spot! He's missed by some distance from a good position there.
5' Jesus does superbly to hold onto the ball as he drives in from the left before sweeping wide for Mahrez to take on Bernardo in the box. The left-back gets himself between Mahrez and the ball, however, and defuses the danger.
3' Garcia is tested early on by a teasing cross from the right, but the young defender manages to turn the ball behind for a corner under pressure, and City successfully defend the set-piece.
1' We're underway at the Amex Stadium!
However, City have lost their last three Premier League away games, scoring just three in their last six such outings. In those six games, Guardiola's side have had 99 shots (30 on target), and recorded an expected goals total of nearly 13.
Brighton have lost all five of their Premier League meetings with Manchester City, conceding 15 goals and scoring just twice in return.
Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola also rings the changes, with only five players keeping their places from the big win over Newcastle. Ederson, Rodri, De Bruyne, Mahrez and Jesus are the players to remain in the side, while an entirely new back four is named.
Brighton boss Graham Potter makes five changes to freshen things up after their 3-1 defeat against champions Liverpool last time out. Lamptey, Burn, Stephens, Mac Allister and Maupay drop to the bench, with Montoya, Bernardo, Bissouma, Mooy and Connolly taking their places in the team.
Manchester City substitutes: Cole Palmer, Tommy Doyle, John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi, David Silva, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Phil Foden, Scott Carson, Fernandinho.
Manchester City XI (4-3-3): Ederson; Kyle Walker, Eric Garcia, Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy; Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo Silva; Riyad Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling.

Brighton XI (4-2-3-1): Mat Ryan; Martin Montoya, Adam Webster, Lewis Dunk, Bernardo; Davy Propper, Yves Bissouma; Pascal Gross, Aaron Mooy, Leandro Trossard; Aaron Connolly.
Manchester City will be looking to continue building momentum from their 5-0 win over Newcastle United last time out against a Brighton side looking to get over the line and mathematically avoid relegation.
