A late goal by Abdi Banda earned Chippa United a 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates at the iconic Orlando Stadium.

Therefore, the Buccaneers were left to rue their missed chances in a match that they had dominated from start to finish.

There are Pirates players who produced poor performances during the match, while a few caught the eye on the day.

GOAL rates the performances of the Bucs fans.

  • Richard Ofori, Orlando Pirates, March 2022Backpagepix

    Richard Ofori - 6/10

Didn't have much to do with Bucs dominating the game.

Ofori made one save throughout the game - denying Diego Appolis. However, he was well beaten when an unmarked Abdi Banda scored with a header.

  • Thabiso Monyane Orlando Pirates.Backpagepix.

    Thabiso Monyane - 6/10

A menace down the right flank with electric runs.

Monyane delivered some great crosses, but the likes of Deon Hotto and Kwape Peprah failed to convert them. Defensively he struggled against Ronald Pfumbidzai towards the end of the game.

  • Deon Hotto, Orlando Pirates, November 2021Backpagepix

    Deon Hotto - 5.5/10

Made some promising runs forward as a left wing-back.

However, Hotto lacked his usual cutting edge and he also looked sloppy in possession a few times. He got himself in good positions in Chippa's box, but he became indecisive.

  • Olisa Ndah, Orlando Pirates, October 2021Backpagepix

    Olisa Ndah - 7/10

Another good performance by the Nigerian star.

Ndah was rock-solid on the right-hand side of Pirates' three-man defence. He was also strong on the ball too and passed it around with unerring accuracy.

  • Innocent Maela, Orlando Pirates, August 2022Backpagepix

    Innocent Maela - 6.5/10

Produced an improved display after struggling against Stellenbosch in midweek.

Maela was a force in defence, making strong tackles and well-timed clearances to frustrate the Chili Boys. He also organised his defence well at times.

  • Nkosinathi Sibisi, Orlando Pirates, August 2022Backpagepix

    Nkosinathi Sibisi - 5.5/10

Started slowly while operating in the middle of a three-man defence.

Chippa forwards gave Sibisi a hard time in the first half. However, he regained his composure after the break as he contained Appolis until the Chippa striker was substituted.

  • Thabang Monare of Orlando Pirates.Backpagepix.

    Thabang Monare - 6.5/10

One of Bucs' better performers on the day.

Monare excelled as a box-to-box midfielder. He looked sharp in attack as well as defence. He should have scored after being set up by Thembinkosi Lorch and he controlled things in midfield.

  • Goodman Mosele, Orlando Pirates, August 2022Backpagepix

    Goodman Mosele - 5.5/10

Bit over-enthusiastic with his physical approach.

Mosele was lucky not to get booked in the first half. However, he did very well to win the ball back a few times after the restart before being substituted.

  • Thembinkosi Lorch, Orlando Pirates, August 2022Backpagepix

    Thembinkosi Lorch - 7/10

Pirates' best attacker on the day.

Lorch looked lively on the wings, carrying the ball goalwards in a bid to create goalscoring chances for himself and his teammates. He should have scored after being sent through on goal by Kwame Peprah.

  • Vincent Pule, Orlando Pirates, October 2021Backpagepix

    Vincent Pule - 5.5/10

Worked hard in his first start of the season.

Pule struggled to receive the ball in front of him and had to drop deep to have it at his feet. The last chance of the game fell for him and he was denied by goalkeeper Lloyd Kazapua.

  • Kwame Peprah Orlando Pirates 2022.Backpagepix.

    Kwame Peprah - 5.5/10

Got the nod ahead of Bienvenu Eva Nga.

Peprah looked sharp and focused on the game - making runs as he looked to create chances for his teammates. However, he was indecisive at times in the final third.

  • Bienvenu Eva Nga, Orlando Pirates, August 2022Backpagepix

    Bienvenu Eva Nga - 4.5/10

Came on the hour-mark and several chances were created for him, but he was very wasteful from inside the box.

  • Tapelo Xoki Orlando Piratesbackpagepix

    Tapelo Xoki - 6/10

Looked composed and he did well to contain Chippa's hard running striker Elmo Kambindu having been introduced in the 68th minute.

  • Miguel Timm Orlando Pirates Jayden Adams Stellenboschbackpagepix

    Miguel Timm - 6/10

Did his job after being brought on to add steel and experience to Bucs' midfield in the 68th minute.

  • Bandile Shandu, Orlando Pirates, March 2022Backpagepix

    Bandile Shandu - N/A

Introduced in the 87th minute and it was too late to warrant a rating.
