As the Glamour Boys prepare to take on the Citizens on Sunday, we take a look at the stars that have been head and shoulders above the rest this term

  • Erick Mathoho, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2019

    Erick Mathoho

Mathoho hasn't only done his defensive job well but he has been a leader in that Amakhosi defence this season. He times his tackles and wins almost every single aerial ball played into the Chiefs penalty area.

Having featured 14 times for Chiefs thus far, Tower also has a knack for goals and it's no surprise he has managed to score three times in the league this season, including Wednesday's bicycle-kick against Highlands Park

  • Samir Nurkovic celebrates a goal for Kaizer Chiefs - November 27

    Samir Nurkovic

When the season started, Nurkovic was dubbed another foreign international who will be taking a chance in the PSL but he has proven to be more than just a striker with his pace, unselfishness and work rate in the final third.

He has contributed eight goals and two assists in the league to further demonstrate his importance in this Amakhosi team.

  • Daniel Akpeyi, Kaizer Chiefs, October 2019

    Daniel Akpeyi

Another player who started the season on Amakhosi fans' bad books, but Akpeyi has really raised his game and should be proud of his performances thus far.

He has rescued Chiefs on so many occasions this season, including two penalty stops against SuperSport United and Maritzburg United in open play when defeats were staring his team in the face.

  • Lebogang Manyama - Kaizer Chiefs January 2020

    Lebogang Manyama

Manyama is enjoying his football again, thanks to Ernst Middendorp for finding a suitable position for him in this Chiefs team.

The former Cape Town City skipper is sitting on four league goals thus far, but it is the ability to pick his teammates that makes him an integral member of this team. He has already registered six assists from 33 goals Chiefs have scored this season.

  • Leonardo Castro Kaizer Chiefs January 8

    Leonardo Castro

Castro started the season as a back-up to Nurkovic, but he needed that Shell Helix Cup match against Mamelodi Sundowns where he scored a hat-trick to convince Middendorp that he had the potential.

He has already netted six goals and grabbed two assists in the nine league matches he has played.
