The match pitting K’Ogalo against Batoto ba Mungu has been tipped as the showdown that will decide the destiny of the KPL title

Gor Mahia will host closest rivals Sofapaka in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title decider on Sunday.

K’Ogalo are topping the 18-team KPL table on 63 points, seven more than Sofapaka, who are lying second.

If Gor Mahia gets a win, they will open a 10-point gap while if Sofapaka down the Kenyan champions, they will reduce the difference to just four.

Below, Goal showcases the key players that Batoto ba Mungu will bank on to get maximum points against Gor Mahia at Moi Stadium in Kisumu, a venue where the latter are yet to lose a match this season.

    #1 Justin Ndikumana

Managing a cleansheet against Gor Mahia will be vital if Sofapaka are to keep their hopes alive for winning the league title this season. Batoto ba Mungu have conceded six goals in their last five games, keeping two clean sheets in the process and keeper Ndikumana has to ensure that his defense improves against the champions.
  2. Goal Kenya.

    #2 Faina Jacobs

The former Muhoroni Youth center back has been a rock for Sofapaka. He will have to coordinate with his goalkeeper to stop the lethal K’Ogalo attackers from doing the damage. He is a good defender at reading any move from the opponents and always reacts fast to maintain order at the back.
  3. Goal Kenya.

    #3 Titus Achesa

Since signing for Batoto ba Mungu from Posta Rangers, Achesa has been consistent and that is why his name is usually in the starting lineup. Achesa is good at taking free-kicks and tracking back, so he will be required to stop the K’Ogalo wingers from creating chances and also moving the ball forward.

    #4 John Avire

Avire is Sofapaka's second highest scorer having bagged a total of seven goals already this season. His pace is lightening and has the ability to score from any range when given a chance. Batoto ba Mungu will rely on him to create chances and score in this top of the bill clash.

    #5 Stephen Waruru

Waruru is another key player for Sofapaka that Gor Mahia will have to keep a close eye on. The former Ulinzi Stars ace is expected to start in the absence of the suspended Kepha Aswani. Although Waruru, who has four goals to his name this season, has been deployed along the right flank, his eye for goal is something K'Ogalo should be worried about.
