Big Blue player ratings: Victory's horror show as Sky Blues step up

A night to forget for nearly every Victory player

Sydney FC booked their place in the A-League grand final with an emphatic 6-1 win over Melbourne Victory on Sunday night.

Victory looked shaky from the outset after conceding in the third minute and would completely fall apart by full-time.

The Sky Blues meanwhile put in their best performance of the season with a number of their players stepping up on the big stage.

Check out all our player ratings below...

  1. Andrew Redmayne

    Rating: 7/10

Looked very confident between sticks but did have a rather quiet night. Nothing he could do about Victory's consolation goal at the death.

  2. Rhyan Grant

    Rating: 8/10

Picked up a yellow card in the first half but didn't shy away from the contest as he proved a great outlet moving forward and kept things tight at the back.

  3. Alex Wilkinson

    Rating: 7/10

Nullified Victory's aerial threat and barely put a foot wrong.

  4. Aaron Calver

    Rating: 8/10

Made himself a menace in the box for Sydney's first goal as he ended up getting the final touch. Did a good job physically trying to contain Ola Toivonen. Looks to be a great pick up for Western United next season.

  5. Michael Zullo

    Rating: 6/10

Still finding his feet after a recent injury layoff and struggled physically at times.

  6. Josh Brillante

    Rating: 7/10

Kept things ticking in midfield and anchored Sydney's midfield well.

  7. Brandon O'Neill

    Rating: 7/10

Hit and miss with his deliveries into the box but was always there to ask questions of Victory's defence.

  8. Milos Ninkovic

    Rating: 8/10

A lively performance from the Serbian, who picked up a goal and an assist.

  9. Siem de Jong

    Rating: 6/10

Showed flashes but has never really found his feet in this Sydney side. Withdrawn after 66 minutes with one eye on ensuring he's fit for next week.

  10. Alex Brosque

    Rating: 8/10

Fired home a stunning second goal for his side and worked tirelessly all night.

  11. Adam Le Fondre

    Rating: 8/10

Took his two goals clinically and never stopped making good runs up top.

  12. Getty

    Lawrence Thomas

    Rating: 2/10

Culpable for the first goal which put his side on the back foot from the outset and struggled positionally all night. Beaten at his near post a number of times too which is never a good look.

  13. Thomas Deng

    Rating: 4/10

Left Alex Brosque unmarked for Sydney's second goal and was taken off after 55 minutes as Victory looked to get back into the contest.

  14. James Donachie

    Rating: 5/10

Guilty of a few stray passes and struggled to contain Le Fondre.

  15. Georg Niedermeier

    Rating: 3/10

Gave away a needless penalty for Sydney's fourth goal which ended any hope of a Victory comeback.

  16. Leigh Broxham

    Rating: 4/10

Headed home an own-goal just before halftime which all but ended the contest. Struggled to contain Rhyan Grant down the left.

  17. Raul Baena

    Rating: 5/10

Did his share of work in midfield but wasn't able to offer enough cover in defence nor penetration in attack.

  18. Terry Antonis

    Rating: 6/10

Booed all night but didn't stop trying to inspire his side once again in a semi-final. Unfortunately for Victory, there were no moments of magic from him.

  19. Keisuke Honda

    Rating: 7/10

The only Victory player that really looked up for the contest as he tried in vain to inspire his side. Picked up an assist at the death.

  20. Elvis Kamsoba

    Rating: 5/10

Once again showed glimpses in attack but still lacking that cutting edge in the final third.

  21. Kosta Barbarouses

    Rating: 6/10

Got himself about dangerously but delayed once or twice in positions he would have normally pulled the trigger.

  22. Ola Toivonen

    Rating: 6/10

A quiet night from the Swede, who scored a routine header late on.
