Three days after the big win against Sierra Leone, South Africa return to action to face their neighbours

Bafana Bafana host Botswana in an international friendly match at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

Hugo Broos and his men are on a high after finally ending a difficult run with a 4-0 victory over Sierra Leone on Saturday.

That gives them confidence going into the Botswana clash as they prepare for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

GOAL predicts how Broos could select his team on Tuesday.

  • Ronwen Williams, Bafana Bafana, June 2022

    GOALKEEPER: Ronwen Williams

Williams provided leadership against Sierra Leone, keeping a clean sheet in national team colours for the first time after two difficult big matches.

  • Khuliso Mudau, Bafana Bafana, June 2022

    RIGHT-BACK: Khuliso Mudau

The Mamelodi Sundowns defender was an unused substitute against Sierra Leone.

Coach Broos is likely to start him against Botswana ahead of Nyiko Mobbie and he would be keen to transfer his club form into the national side.

  • Aubrey Modiba, Bafana Bafana, September 2022

    LEFT-BACK: Aubrey Modiba

The Masandawana star capped a nice outing against Sierra Leone with a goal.

He would want to build on that with another good performance and cement his place ahead of the Afcon qualifiers.

  • Rushine De Reuck, Bafana Bafana, July 2021

    CENTRE-BACK: Rushine de Reuck

He is a favourite of Broos and has enjoyed more game time in the natuonal team under the Belgian.

De Reuck has been doing well for the Brazilians and would want Broos to maintain his faith in him.

  • Siyanda Xulu, Bafana Bafana, March 2021

    CENTRE-BACK: Siyanda Xulu

Despite the Orlando Pirates central defensive combination of Nkosinathi Sibisi and Innocent Maela keeping a clean sheet against Sierra Leone, Broos would be eager to try another centre-back pairing.

Xulu was not initially in this squad and would be keen to justify his late call-up.

  • Luke Le Roux, Bafana Bafana, September 2022

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER: Luke le Roux

The Sweden-based midfielder enjoyed a dream Bafana debut on Saturday.

He did raise his hand up for future national team consideration.

  • Sphephelo Sithole of South Africa.

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER: Siphephelo Sithole

Sithole anchored the midfield well against Sierra Leone and Broos could have found a permanent fit for that position.

  • Mihlali Mayambela of Bafana Bafana.

    ATTACKING MIDFIELDER: Mihlali Mayambela

Another player who enjoyed his Bafana debut and spiced it with a goal.

A repeat of that performance will guarantee him a place in the Afcon qualifiers.

  • Goodman Mosele, Bafana Bafana, June 2022

    ATTACKING MIDFIELDER: Goodman Mosele

Broos is likely to throw in the Pirates man after he was an unused substitute against Sierra Leone.

Mosele has been a regular under the Belgian tactician.

  • Themba Zwane Bafana Bafana.

    ATTACKING MIDFIELDER: Themba Zwane

Zwane responded to his Bafana return with a brace on Saturday.

Broos was left eating a humble pie after the player he used to ignore proved beyond any reasonable doubt that he is an important national team player.

  • Zakhele Lepasa Bafana Bafana.

    CENTRE-FORWARD: Zakhele Lepasa

The Pirates man provided two assists against Sierra Leone.

He did enough to claim future call-ups and another good performance on Tuesday will make it difficult for Broos to ignore him.
