Asamoah Gyan promises to spend time with stroke-ridden Agogo

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has revealed that he would take time off his busy schedule to visit former teammate Manuel 'Junior' Agogo, who has been battling stroke since 2015.

The 38-year-old former Nottingham Forest striker revealed in an interview last week that his teammates have ignored him following his unfortunate incident. However, Gyan insists he is not one of those because they usually chat whenever they have time.

"It's unfortunate after hearing what happened to Junior Agogo. I will make arrangements in the coming days and definitely visit him in London," Gyan told Angel FM.

"Agogo was influential in the Black Stars in the past. I think not all the players have neglected him as it has been reported. That story is not entirely true.

"We have key players who have been talking to him on numerous occasions to see how he is faring," he said.

He added: "We are old time friends and we've been talking for some years now. I believe his complaints about the neglect were to some players and not all his former teammates."

Gyan and Agogo led Ghana's attack during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations as the Black Stars finished third.

Agogo boasts of 12 goals in 27 matches for Ghana.
