One of the brightest young stars in this South African team, Tshepo Masilela was discovered by former Bafana Bafana coach Ted Dumitru. His talent and potential was immediately visible to those around him and he spent very little time in the South African top flight before leaving to make his mark in Europe. After only one season in top-flight football, he made his move to Israeli club Maccabi Haifa.
His ability and pace going forward on the left wing was key to Bafana's performance in the Confederations Cup, creating goals and keeping opposition wingers at bay. His crossing is accurate and he is able to take on opposition defenders with confidence.
His talent has drawn interest from Spanish clubs and with age on his side he could well be playing in La Liga after the World Cup.
Did you know?
He made his full international debut before he had even signed a professional contract, a first in South African football.
