HOW THEY QUALIFIED FOR AFCON 2012
GROUP E WINNER

Senegal started their qualifying campaign with a 4-2 away win over DR Congo before handing Mauritius a 7-0 drubbing and edging rivals Cameroon 1-0 in Dakar. A goalless draw against Cameroon in Yaounde and two straight wins over DR Congo and Mauritius finished their unbeaten campaign with 16 points.

AMARA TRAORE | Coach

The 46-year-old came on board in 2009 when the brilliant 2002 World Cup generation was dwindling away. Initially deemed awkward and inexperienced, Traore set up a new team composed mainly of young professionals, whose cohesion has yielded results and praise for the local manager.

MAMADOU NIANG | Captain
The 32-year-old is a striker with immense focus, who easily adapts to the structure of any game. His pace and close control make him a tough challenge for his markers. His accurate finishing has often earned him the top scorer accolade with his clubs and with the national team.

MOUSSA SOW | Star Player

Moussa Sow finished top scorer of Ligue 1 with 25 goals last season and is an asset to the Teranga Lions. His intelligence, creativity and composure often open personal goal-scoring chances or timely and defence-splitting assists, which collectively contribute to the progress of his teams.

LAMINE GASSAMA | Young Talent
The Olympique Lyonnais man has shown stunning tackling ability and bravery in his right-back role and those attributes earned him a call-up to the French Under-21 side, before he chose to play for Senegal's senior team earlier this year. The 22-year-old has great potential.

PROBABLE STARTING XI
Traore has been faithful to his 4-4-2 formation, which relies heavily on defenders Diawara, Diakhate and Sall to help Diame and Dia drive the midfield forward.
