Francesc Fabregas - Arsenal
Having grown up in Barcelona and attending his first Barca match at nine months old, Fabregas was a Barca boy through and through. Playing in the club’s youth divisions, Fabregas demonstrated exceptional talent. However, in time, the youngster came to the conclusion that he would not be able to secure a spot in the first team and at 16 years old, sought another avenue to pursue his development as a player.

That avenue proved to be Arsenal, as Arsene Wenger signed the midfielder and groomed to become the centrepiece of his Gunner team. Now, the captain of the north London side, Fabregas has become the club’s icon. A creative player who is most adept at providing the final pass but can also score, Cesc has become one of the premier youngsters on the world stage. He has persistently been linked to a move back to Barcelona, but for the moment remains a Gunner.

With La Roja, Cesc was a crucial addition to Spain’s Euro 2008 squad and despite his inexperience and youth, was able to bury the penalty kick that would see Spain through to the semi-finals past Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. If he is not already, he will soon be a pillar in Spain’s national squad.
