The most successful goalkeeper in Barcelona history, Victor Valdes holds the honour of (as of summer 2010) having won four La Liga titles, two Champions League crowns, a Copa del Rey trophy, two Spanish Supercopas, one UEFA Supercup, and one FIFA Club World Cup.

A Barcelona youth product, Valdes began playing for the Blaugrana first team in 2002. In the 2003/2004 season, he secured the starting goalkeeping position for his club and the next season, on the way to helping Barca winning the La Liga title, Valdes was awarded the Zamora trophy naming him as Spain’s best goalkeeper. He further win the Zamora in 2009 and 2010.

After two consecutive years as La Liga's best goalkeeper (at least in terms of numbers), Valdes was finally called up to the Spanish national team for this summer's World Cup 2010, making his first appearance in the squad in Vicente Del Bosque's final 23-man list.

Did you know?
On 17 June 2007, the last round in La Liga, Valdés matched a goalkeeping record set by Barcelona legend Andoni Zubizarreta in which he went all season long, all 38 rounds in La Liga without leaving the starting line-up nor being substituted. It has never been matched, by any Barça goalkeeper, other than Valdés.
