Asamoah Gyan is the darling boy of Ghanaian football lovers. His operation 'one goal' in each game saved Ghana from taking an early shower from the last African Cup of Nations in Angola. In spite of the scathing criticisms following the 2008 African Nations Cup the goal poacher has developed into Ghana’s best striker at the moment.
But for the persuasion of team-mates Gyan and his brother Baffour threatened to walk out on the Black Stars following criticism against him during the 2008 biennial tournament.
He began his football career in senior high school and later joined Liberty Professionals.
Did you know?
Gyan scored the fastest goal of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
