Bacary Sagna

||||||||||||||||||
Bacary Sagna has a great chance in South Africa as France have no other right-backs at his international level. The Arsenal player has virtually no competition for his place.
He learned his football in Sens and then integrated into the Auxerre youth academy, a famous place for French football. Initially, Sagna was a striker and played in second team at Auxerre, but his coach for one match decided to let him play right-back. Then Johan Radet (then left-back of Auxerre) had a serious injury and Sagna was called in 2004-05. He became a member of the starting XI at Auxerre and was drafted into the France Under-21 team that season, jumping from 4th division football to the young Les Bleus in the same year. He is now a consistent world-class player, even if he is not so strong technically. His offensive skills make him very important for Arsenal and the French national team.
Did you know ?
Sagna only scored one goal in professional football during the 2007-2008 season.
Awards and Honours
Best right-back of Premier League (2007-2008)
Best right-back of Ligue 1 (2006-2007)
French Cup winner (2005)
