Andre Bikey
Andre Bikey has been all over the place in his short career. Since arriving at Espanyol as a sixteen-year-old, the “Douala Bully” has played for eight clubs in as many seasons. After Spain, he went to Portugal, Russia, came back to Spain before making the move to the Premiership.
Known for having sudden outbursts, Bikey is now carrying a bit of a reputation after head-butting an opponent in Sweden during his last game there, pushing a CAF doctor in Ghana at the African Cup of Nations (while the medic was trying to help Rigobert Song get up) and finally throwing and stepping on his own jersey after being sent-off with Reading.
Aside from his temper tantrums, Bikey has been nothing short of spectacular with the national team even though what made him popular and indispensable is what is making him play less with the Indomitable Lions now that the new breed of defenders has settled in with Aurelien Chedjou and Nicolas Nkoulou bringing something else to the table. Bikey is still very much part of the Lions and will certainly be in South Africa next summer.
Did you know?
Andre Bikey and his wife Marina met in high school in Barcelona. Funnily enough he couldn’t keep his grades up and was kicked off the team. He blamed her at the time and they have since married and are know parents to a daughter
