With plenty of stamina to mount and fall back repeatedly, right-back Emmanuel Eboue, stunned fans – home and abroad – when he signed for Arsenal in 2005. He soon became a household name in Ivory Coast.
Also groomed at Asec’s Mimosifcom, Eboue joined in 2002 Beveren, Belgium where most of Asec’s young players where flocking to – Asec being Beveran’s feeder club. After three seasons there, he was spotted and signed by Arsenal.
After five seasons at Arsenal, Eboue’s contract still runs with the English club because he has done so many things to please manager Arsene Wenger, that the coach once compared the Ivorian to the legendary Brazilian winger Garrincha.
Eboue has been playing regularly for Ivory Coast’s national team since 2004.
