South Korea already have eight group stage exits in the 10 tournaments they have qualified for and that could record get worse this time around.
The east Asian country are just 4/5 (1.80) to finish bottom of Group F - which also contains Germany, Sweden and Mexico.
2018 World Cup Qualification
The first round of qualification was a breeze for South Korea, who won all eight of their matches whilst scoring 27 and conceding none.
However, the final round proved much trickier as they failed to win any of their five away games and it took a 0-0 draw in Uzbekistan on the final matchday before their qualification was assured.
Tournament History
An outstanding fourth-place finish in the 2002 World Cup is by far South Korea's best result to date as the hosts beat Italy and Spain before succumbing to Brazil in the semi-final.
However, that competition is responsible for three of their five wins in the finals, and an all-time record of 17 losses and 67 goals conceded hardly inspires success.
