Mohamed Salah has been shortlisted for Uefa Champions League Player of the Week award after his brilliant display in Liverpool’s 7-0 victory over Maribor on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old scored twice and laid one for Roberto Firmino as they Reds thrashed the Slovenians at home.

The Egypt international had beaten Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to the gong in the first matchday of the European top-tier club competition and will be slugging against the duo once again after both players had positive showings against Tottenham and Olympiacos respectively.

Marcus Rashford, Quincy Promes, Cenk Tosun, Eden Hazard and Neymar are the other players in the eight-man shortlist. And the winner is to be decided through voting.
