PSG not Europe’s best but they are the most ambitious – Thiago Motta

Thiago Motta has admitted that Paris Saint-Germain are not yet Europe’s greatest club, but he insists they are the most ambitious.

Balotelli should not follow Ben Arfa example

Since QSI took over the capital club in the summer of 2011, PSG have dominated the domestic scene but have yet to make the big breakthrough in Europe, having failed to reach the Champions League semi-finals during this era.

Nevertheless, midfield veteran Thiago Motta is confident that they will attain the status their owners hope for them.

“Today we can all agree that PSG’s not the greatest club in Europe, but it is the most ambitious,” the Italy international, 34, told TF1. “One day, it will be among the best two or three clubs in the world.”

Even finishing top of Ligue 1 is far from certain, with the destination of the title out of the reigning champions’ hands with four matches of the campaign remaining and a tough trip to Nice slated for Sunday night.

“We have to treat every match like a final,” Motta added. “That’s again the case against Nice.

“I hope that we’ll finish the season with the two titles we can still win: the league and the Coupe de France.”

Regardless of what happens, the midfielder, who is out of contract in the summer, hopes that head coach Unai Emery remains.

“I think he’ll stay, he’s done very good work this season,” he said. “The president has given him his total confidence and us, the players, have confidence in what he does.”
