New England Revolution v New York Red Bulls Betting: Hosts to serve up cup revenge

These sides played out a dramatic MLS encounter last week and meet again in the US Open Cup where we are expecting the hosts to exact some revenge

Two sides who have so far underwhelmed in MLS meet in the quarter-finals of the US Open Cup. New England Revolution host New York Red Bulls with revenge on their mind following a league defeat last week to their upcoming visitors.

Jesse Marsch's men came from behind to claim an injury time 3-2 win in Massachusetts, a result which lead the Revolution's Diego Fagundez to say: "Hopefully, next Thursday when we play them, we need to punch them in the mouth."

It should therefore be a fiery clash at Jordan Field where the hosts are offered at 11/10 (2.10) with Paddy Power, while the Red Bulls are available at 15/8 (2.88) and the draw is priced at 11/5 (3.20).

While the Revolution have been disappointing generally in MLS, they remain extremely tough to be beat at home, where they boast a strong record. Last week's win for the Red Bulls in Boston was only the second defeat in 13 home MLS matches for the Revolution who have scored in all but one of their last 17 home matches in all competitions.

The Red Bulls, for their part, have lost eight of their last 11 matches on the road in all competitions and, despite that last-gasp win last week in New England, remain unconvincing away from home.

The statistics, therefore, point to a home win and the price for a win for the hosts looks tempting. Prior to last week's defeat, the Revolution had won each of their last three home games against the Red Bulls, and the side will be extremely motivated to gain revenge and make it through to the semi-finals of the competition in which they were runners up last season.

If we expect another competitive game then the price of 11/4 (3.75) for a home win and both teams to score also looks interesting and offers more value than simply backing both teams to score which is offered at just 4/7 (1.57)
