Modric, Rakitic and co. can match Croatia's golden generation - Igor Biscan

Former Croatia international Igor Biscan says Brazil will face a stiff test on Sunday, boldly predicting that his country can replicate their incredible third-place finish at France 1998.

The Selecao kick-off their World Cup preparations at Anfield as the Brasil Global Tour returns to Europe,

And Biscan believes Tite’s side will have their work cut out for them against a Croatia side who are out to replicate a golden generation that earned a third-placed finish at World Cup in 1998.

"I believe we have the quality and experience," said Biscan.

"For this group of players, this is their last chance to do something big, the public expects this generation to come close to the famous side of 1998."

Led by the likes of Davor Sukur, Robert Prosinecki, Zvonimir Boban, Igor Stimac and Robert Jarni, Croatia flourished in France as they saw off Germany and Netherlands to take the bronze medal.

And Biscan believes the current squad, featuring Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic, Ivan Rakitic, Ivan Perisic and Mario Mandzukic can match the greatest side the Vatreni has ever produced.

"I think they have enough quality to replicate 1998," he said. "If you analyse the teams they play at, the roles they have in those teams you will understand they are on the same level as those players were.

"If they start well and win their first game and start to build a positive atmosphere around themselves then everyone will jump on board and anything is possible."

Brazil take on Croatia in a FIFA World Cup warm-up at Anfield on Saturday, June 3 (kick-off 3pm BST). Tickets from £30 Adults/£10 Under-16s are on sale at www.liverpoolfc.com/tickets
