Man Utd team news: Pogba dropped as Alexis makes home debut against Huddersfield

The Red Devils will be looking to offer a positive response to a disappointing midweek performance at Wembley when they return to Old Trafford

Paul Pogba has been dropped by Manchester United on an afternoon which will see Alexis Sanchez make his home debut against Huddersfield.

The Chilean forward has made two appearances on the road for the Red Devils – against Yeovil and Tottenham - since completing a high-profile switch from Arsenal during the January transfer window.

He has now been given the opportunity to introduce himself to the Old Trafford faithful, but Pogba must make do with a place among the substitutes.

It is the first time Pogba has been overlooked by Jose Mourinho for a game in which the manager has gone for a largely full-strength XI.

The Frenchman is replaced in the United midfield by Scott McTominay in one of four changes from the side which lost 2-0 to Spurs. Elsewhere, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Juan Mata come in for Phil Jones, Ashley Young and Anthony Martial while there is still no place for Marcus Rashford.

Goalkeeper David de Gea lines up in his 300th game in all competitions for Manchester United.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner has opted for a five-man back line, while Laurent Depoitre leads the line with Steve Mounie left on the bench.
