KPL side Bandari release nine players

With almost two weeks to the expiry of the Kenyan Premier League transfer window, Bandari FC have released nine players ahead of the 2017 season.

According to the club's media liaison officer Abdulrahman Mohammed among those released include dependable full back and Harambee Stars trialist Abdulatif ''Achkobe'' Omar and striker Anthony Kimani, whose contract with the club have expired. Abdulrahman disclosed that the criteria used to drop the players was based purely on merit.

''We found no reason to renew the contract of the duo since we have recruited good players who can fill their positions and create a better impact to the team.”

Others released are Ugandan burly striker George Abege, goalkeeper Kennedy Onyanch, David Gateri, Khamisi Mwamzandi, Abbas Muhiddin as well as Posta Rangers bound duo of Eric Kibiru and Victor Ndinya.

Abdulrahman confirmed the club's player’s recruitment exercise is still ongoing and a full list of the new signings will be released in due course. ''We are still in the process of signing good players but after due consultation with new coach Paul Nkata we have decided to conceal the names of our new signings until the last week of transfer.''

The 2017 transfer season closes on January 31.
