Kalidou Koulibaly ‘honoured’ to lead Napoli to victory over Parma

Kalidou Koulibaly has expressed his delight after playing the role of a captain for some minutes in Napoli's 3-0 win over Parma in Wednesday’s Serie A outing.

Lorenzo Insigne's opener in the fourth minute and a second-half brace from Arkadiusz Milik ensured Carlo Ancelotti's men sealed their fifth league win.

Following the substitution of Insigne in the 68th minute, Koulibaly was given the captain’s band for the first time since he arrived from Genk in 2014.

The 27-year-old who has played every minute of his side’s matches this season was in action for the entire duration of the encounter at the Stadio Sao Paolo.

And more pleasing for the centre-back who committed his future to Napoli until 2023 this summer, was the clean sheet and the leadership role he assumed for close to half an hour.

“Happy for the three points and for not having conceded a goal. Honored for wearing the band: forward on our journey,” Koulibaly wrote on Instagram.

Napoli are placed second in the Serie A table and are three points behind undefeated league leaders Juventus ahead of both sides meeting at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday.
