Jonevret: Orlando Pirates showed too much respect to Sundowns and it back fired

Orlando Pirates head coach Kjell Jonevet felt that his side showed the PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns too much respect on Sunday.

The Brazilians completed a league double over Bucs - thanks to two goals from Khama Billiat and Yannick Zakri at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.

"We showed them too much respect when they were more aggressive," Jonevret told the media.

"Just before halftime we conceded and during the break we spoke about what we need to do.

"At the start of the second half we conceded a quick goal which made life difficult for us," he said.

"But we had two tough matches against (Bidvest) Wits and Sundowns, we would have loved to win or collect something.

Bucs will now take on Bloemfontein Celtic in the City of Roses on Wednesday as they look move back into the PSL top eight.

"But we have an important match against Bloem Celtic during the week and we have to focus on that from tomorrow (Monday)," Jonevret continued.

"Most of the teams in the league are well organized, Sundowns has a good defense good attackers.

"We have three more matches in the league, we have had a tough week but we know my guys will give us results to finish well," he concluded.
