Having missed out on the World Cup, Italy will aim to bounce back with a strong performance in the inaugural Nations League.

The Azzurri begin their campaign against a Poland side who did make it to Russia this summer, although they produced a disappointing showing to bow out in the group stages with two defeats in their opening two games.

Roberto Mancini has included some new faces in his first squad as national coach such as Cristiano Biraghi of Fiorentina and Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragnio, with Giorgio Chiellini recalled after not featuring for Italy for nearly a year.

Poland for their part boast eight Serie A based played in their ranks, while talismanic forward Robert Lewandowski is also involved.

This is something of a new beginning for Italy with a new coach and several inexperienced players included in the squad.

A period of rebuilding in required following the massive disappointment of missing out on Russia 2018, and this clash with Poland should prove a good test to see where this current squad is at.

The Poles suffered a 4-0 defeat on the road in World Cup qualifying to Denmark and away from home they have kept precious few clean sheets in recent time.

Italy's strong home record means that we should look for an angle with which to back them, and perhaps they can get among the goals against a less than solid Polish defence which conceded three goals to Colombia and two to Senegal at the World Cup.
