ISL 2018/19: ATK rope in Moroccan midfielder Noussair El Maimouni

Indian Super League Side (ISL) ATK have agreed terms with former Morocco U-23 midfielder Noussair El Maimouni for 2018/19 season Ittihad de Tangier.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder started his professional career with Moghreb de Tetouan back in 2010. He stayed with Tetouan for seven consecutive seasons before joining Tangier in 2017. But only after making a handful of appearances for his new club he returned to his former team in search of more playing time.

He has won the domestic league title with Tetouan in 2012, 2014, and 2018.

ATK gaffer Steve Coppell is a stickler for defensive discipline and Mamouni would be an ideal partner for Pronay Halder at the centre of the park to break up attacks.

After a disastrous campaign in the previous season, ATK have been active in the transfer market. The two-time ISL champions have already inked a deal with attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzarote who was in fantastic form for FC Goa in the previous season.

They have also roped in lanky defender John Johnson from Bengaluru FC to bolster their back-line. Nigerian hitman Kalu Uche has also been brought in to solve their goal scoring problems. The former Espanyol and Levante forward had been in terrific form for Delhi Dynamos last season, scoring 13 times in the previous season.

Maimouni becomes ATK's fourth overseas signing this season as the Sanjiv Goenka-owned side looks to bring a positive change to their fortunes.
