"So true, there is no question that we distance ourselves strictly, clearly and in the strongest terms from this behavior!,” the statement reads on Hannover 96 website.

“It has been a mindless action of a few individuals that we do not consider part of ours 96 community - because they have nothing in common with the values that our club has long stood for.

“We have already set in motion and will do everything possible to identify those so that such a shameful incident can not be repeated. We are grateful for any hints that help to identify these people!

“Such ideas have absolutely no place at Hannover 96 - and for the very, very large majority of our fans it makes no difference at all, which skin color their audience favorites or from which country they originate. You're right, Leon: There should not be room for racism in any corner of the world - and that's our very clear statement!"
