Frustrated Ayew 'cries' after Everton drubbing on Wednesday

West Ham United ace Andre Ayew is disappointed by the turn of events in Wednesday's Premier League meeting with Everton.

At Goodison Park, the Hammers were only able to hold their own for 18 minutes as a Wayne Rooney hat-trick and an Ashley Williams effort sank David Moyes men to a 4-0 defeat.

Their fifth successive game without a win, West Ham are currently trapped in the relegation zone on the 18th spot.

“There are no words," a crestfallen Ayew said, as reported by his club's official website.

"We came here with lots of determination to do something. We leave here with zero points and four goals conceded. It’s not normal.

“We need to get back to work and try and get some points. We need to stay strong, be men, take responsibility and move forward.

“It’s not going to be easy. It will be difficult as we have tough games coming up, but we need to tune our mind and fight and try and get the maximum points that we can from those games.”

But it was not all Everton at Goodison Park as West Ham had their fair share of chances.

At a point, Manuel Lanzini tried his luck with a rasping drive before Aaron Cresswell's effort came off the crossbar.

“We had an opportunity to come back to 2-1 and I think that would have maybe changed the game because we came out for the second half with a lot of determination," Ayew continued.

“It’s football. We came here with determination and our confidence was higher [after the draw with Leicester] than it was before, but we conceded two early goals.

“It’s been frustrating but we need to turn our season around.”

Ayew, who made Moyes' line-up for the first time on Wednesday, has made 12 league appearances involving seven starts and two goals for West Ham so far this season.
