FAM nominates Felcra FC to take Sime Darby FC's spot in Premier League

However, it is not all settled yet as FMLLP are still waiting for the confirmation from Felcra after sending them the notification on November 23.

Sime Darby has beaten Felcra in the semi-final stage of the 2017 FAM Cup to clinch a place in the second tier of Malaysian league football. However, the club side made the announcement on earlier this week that they will not be sending a team to the Premier League.

Sime Darby management has taken a decision to concentrate on their youth academy after seven years on the scene. They will however still be involved in the Division 1 of the Kuala Lumpur League in 2018.

Felcra who thought their hopes of reaching the Premier League had been dashed, has now been given a reprieve following FAM's latest decision.

That said, it is not all cut and dry yet as Felcra themselves have also been rumoured to be thinking about taking the same route as Sime Darby before the latter's decision to withdraw.

UKM FC are the other team to be promoted from the FAM Cup to the Premier League while ATM and Perlis are the teams to be dropping down from the Premier League for the 2018 season.
